How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe hotel is quite modern and well appointed. The room was very nice and the aircon was not intrusive. We parked our car a fair bit away and it cost 15€ per day. Apparently, the marina car park is 5€ per day but we didn't know that beforehand.

Verified reviewA modern and comfortable boutique hotel in superb location. Easy access to public transport and many authentic restaurants and bars. Our sea view room has beautiful view of the mountains and promenade along the bay. My friend and myself really enjoyed our 3 night stay here and have beautiful memories of Saranda. Thanks much to the staff’s warm hospitality and excellent services. A big thumbs up to Lisea’s attentiveness and effective communication. All in all, highly recommend!

Reception service during the day sucked. Staff’s behavior was a bit weird. Breakfast was the worst ever. While checking out, they claimed the towels were lost and that we needed to pay for them.
Thank you for your review. While guest experience is important, the hotel has certain policies that should be respected. You damaged room inventory beyond repair and two towels were missing. Our staff tried to tell you that for such damage charges are applicable. Not only did you refuse to pay, you said you did not care and spoke in very high tones, trying to intimidate our staff and damaging the experience of other guests staying with us. We value guest experience above all else, but guests also have to have respect for the property and the staff, both of which you disrespected.

Verified reviewThis was our second stay at this great beachfront and family owned hotel. It's brand new and only metres from the water's edge, right in the centre of town and on the promenade, so a perfect location with beautiful direct sea views. Our first stay was last year, just after its opening - so it's still in perfect condition and incredibly stylish. We were SO warmly welcomed back by the owner and his family. Totally delightful and I can't recommend it highly enough. The breakfast now being offered (new this year) is a welcome addition. We will be back (again). Thank You Lion Gate - from London.

Verified reviewThe location, right in the middle of the promenade, you can't find better. The staff is great, nice girls, willing to help. The room as always cleaned and the overall cleanliness is great. The hotel itself is the most beautiful from the promenade, it's hard to get better.
If you don't get the seaview room, you'll get an ugly backyard view, horrible. It's the opposite of the front view. There is no parking available at the hotel. Also, you are being told you'll get free water daily, but you have to ask for it. Last thing, the water pressure on the shower is low. Breakfast is included, but it's not the greatest, only a few options, it almost ruins the hotel experience, it's opposite to how the hotel looks and the room ammenities.

Verified reviewBrand new facility, very nice. Comfy bed and linens. It's a beautiful sea view and you can see all the fuzz on the street, once you close windows and pull the curtain, you're in quit. We've got free upgrade which was nice surprise.
Just don't come by car, we drop off the rental car that day, so it was ok.

Verified reviewThe staff were particularly helpful and kind. Very cheery! The location is right on the boardwalk, very central. Great views and breeze. Updated rooms, nicely done. Nice balcony space.
Albania just doesn't have good infrastructure. Although the property was new, electrical outlets blew continuously, the AC started and stopped, etc. The staff fixed everything as quickly as they could, but my strong sense is that this is what you should expect. We were also there during a festival and the sound was thumping, loud, and late. When it ended, there was peace and quiet.

There were no blankets on the bed. Only a single bed sheet. We called the reception desk about asking for more bedding but no one answered (they were supposed to be 24-hour service), so we slept with towels over us for comfort.

Rooms are spacious very clean and have excellent facilities .Perfect Location. The staff were very pleasant. Owners speak English, Greek, Italian and possibly a few other languages. It is worth it.
