The wasps around us. Nothing that could be avoided I think but they really made us uncomfortable. Also lack of air conditioning in the second room of the family room made it uncomfortable when the door between the 2 rooms were closed. Feedback was provided to the owner who gracefully acknowledged it.

The location, the architecture of the guest house, the breakfast and the staff. The staff was excellent and they made our stay very comfortable. The location is right at the top of the castle so very easy access to the castle. A nice walk down to the main city but a good steep walk back. So pls bear that in mind. Taxis available to drop off.

Internet was a bit weak in the room, but it's an old stone building so not too surprising. Worked well in the common areas. It is tricky to find if you don't read their messages (don't follow Google maps!).

Super fun place to stay for a night or two up on the hill over Berat. Great to be up in the castle area in the early morning and late evening before & after the larger group of tourists are there. Beautiful views from the property patio. Solid breakfast in the morning enjoying the views & fresh air. Room is cozy & quiet in the old building making for a great night's sleep. Aircon kept it cool during the high heat when we stayed.

Can't believe how good this was. The location as amazing, the host was amazing, thre building, the view, everything. Can't praise this enough, this is a must stay! Parking directly in front, the drive up is not hard, don't worry like I did. It is easy.

Loved our two night stay at Kris guesthouse. Aldi was a great host, and cooked a delicious breakfast. The guesthouse was lovely and quiet and we loved the location for being able to walk around the castle in the evenings when it had cooled down to watch the amazing sunset.

Difficult to get to by car and beds were a little hard.

We stayed one night and the property is fantastic, right in the heart of Berat Castle. Once we worked out directions and got through the narrow lanes, it was a great stay.

There was a kettle in room but no cups or tea/coffee. Luckily we had our own cups & coffee with us.

Beautiful old guesthouse arrange around an inner courtyard with a shaded terrace with amazing views for breakfast and a smaller sunny terrace with views. Location within the castle so great for exploring. A few restaurants up at the castle to choose from. 15 mins walk down cobbled road to town. 20 mins walk back up is hard work but easily doable. Plenty of parking at property. Nice breakfast. Very friendly host. Rooms lovely and cool inside so we didn’t need the A/C. Easy to find parking following other reviewers tips: Go through the castle gates/archways (there are a few). Keep right always & keep going past parked cars. At the top parking area you’ll see small wooden sign for ‘Kris’. Keep right along narrow lane to a triangle of parking right outside.

Nothing, we loved it

The pictures didn’t do it justice, it’s beautiful. It was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was good with homemade warm bread and local cheese. The family running it were very friendly and helpful with questions we had about what we wanted to do. They were also available on whatsapp to phone or text prior to our arrival and sent a photo of where to park which was helpful.

I really enjoyed my stay here in Berat! The hotel is located within the castle, offering a stunning view of the city below. The manager was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The room was beautiful and cozy, with comfortable beds, and the breakfast was delicious. I especially loved the breakfast area—it overlooks the city and made for a perfect start to the day. I highly recommend staying here if you're visiting Berat, though be prepared for a bit of a walk down to the main part of town.

Don’t follow google maps directions to the guesthouse! will take you to impossible streets to drive. Google the castle entrance and then follow the owners instructions to the guesthouse.

Beautiful, well maintained family run business. Extremely friendly and helpful. Stayed up late to wait for us. We stayed in the newly renovated family room which was very spacious and without fault. Location excellent- 20 minute walk downhill into old town, 6€ taxi back up the hill. View for breakfast a real highlight. Breakfast itself was excellent. Couldn’t fault anything about the stay.
