We had two wonderful night in Hotel Gjirokastra. It is a family run business and the owners and staff are wonderful hosts, welcoming their guest with a smile and openess which makes you feel welcome right away. The hotel is one of the few places with a pool and located just above the Old basar. We received a detailed description of how to drive there on our day of arrival and that was VERY helpful. Parking looked like it could be a problem - but the opposite was the case, for guests they kept some spaces available. Everything was very clean, the rooms were cosy and special and the pool wonderful and relaxing - perfect basis to discover this town.

Brilliant location close to town and the castle. A great, split-level family room which our children loved, and the pool was much needed on a sunny afternoon. Breakfast was delicious and just kept coming, we didn't eat again until dinner! The owners were really helpful, parked our car on arrival and gave clear instructions on the easiest way out of town (ignore google it tries to send you up a set of stairs).

There wasn't anything we didn't like but just to be aware, check your directions carefully if using sat nav etc. The last 5 mins of our trip was up very steep, narrow cobbled streets, a bit stressed when we arrived and glad of the complimentary fruit to help calm the nerves!

We had an absolutely amazing stay! The property is stunning, and the owners are incredibly kind, helpful, and welcoming. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, excellent AC, and a huge bathroom with a fantastic shower. We originally planned to stay just one night, but loved it so much that we extended for another night. The pool was beautiful—a perfect escape from the summer heat—and we really enjoyed swimming and socializing with other guests. The location is ideal! Everything you need is within a 5-minute walk, and the hotel offers free parking. The drive up is a bit challenging due to steep, older roads, but the experience and views more than make up for it. Breakfast was extensive and delicious. We would definitely stay here again and again. This was the best place we stayed in Albania—we loved every minute of it!

An amazing tranquil oasis right in the heart of the old town and within an easy walk of the castle. The bedroom was spacious, very light and a cool place to rest from the heat. The swimming pool was outstanding, clean, lots of umbrellas, sun beds and a beautiful view of the castle and the town without being in full view of everyone else outside. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and welcomed us to their hotel with open arms. The breakfast was substantial and the freshly squeezed orange juice was the icing on the cake.

Really fantastic hotel. Comfortable, nice swimming pool, very nice staff, good airco. Breakfast was not buffet but they let you repeat whatever you want. Location is absolutely perfect, and price was also good.

We had a lovely stay here. The room was spacious and clean. Good breakfast. Nice pool. Nice, helpful owners - they brought us a plate of watermelon out of the blue when we were lounging by the pool.

The property is absolutely beautiful in a wonderful central location. The family suite was perfect and very well done… great to have Parking and the castle and old town on your doorstep. Good breakfast, lovely staff - a family run place where everyone worked very hard to ensure the place was spotless and a great place to be. We also loved the pool.

If I was going to be picky I’d say we could have done with some drawers in the bedroom to store things in. And the shower could be a bit unpredictable but I think you have to accept that in an older property.

Right in the centre of the old town, big airy bedroom set on two levels (we are an our family of four). Really friendly and helpful family run hotel. We parked on the pavement right next to the hotel. Amazing to have a pool to chill out at after or mid site seeing - lots of parasols, so can be in the shade or sun. Breakfast was delicious and huge - more than satisfied 2 teenage boys!

We discovered this hotel through a travel video about Albania and decided to give it a try during our stay in Gjirokastër—and it was absolutely stunning! The spacious family room (with two bedrooms) was perfect for us, and the pool was a wonderful treat to cool off in both the afternoon and morning. The place truly feels like a medieval castle, but with all the modern comforts. Breakfast was generous and delicious, the rooms were spotless, we received complimentary water, and parking was well organized. Our only regret was that we could stay for just one night!

Just a small heads-up: paying by credit card comes with an extra fee (it was nearly €7 for us), so it's a good idea to bring some cash for payment.

We had the BEST stay here. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the owners are so kind, accommodating, helpful, and lovely. The rooms are large and have comfortable beds and great AC. The bathroom is massive and has such a great shower. The pool was stunning and such a nice reprieve from the summer heat. We enjoyed swimming and hanging out with other guests. Location wise, it couldn't have been better! You can walk to everything you need within 5 minutes and there's free parking at the hotel. The breakfast was a huge spread and delicious as well! I would stay here again and again! We LOVED it. Thank you so much!

Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing breakfast!! The refreshing pool. Our garden room was lovely. Enjoyed watching the tortoises outside our room.

WE LIKED EVERYTHING. THE HOST FAMILY WERE LOVELY PEOPLE AND VERY HELPFULL. IT WAS REALLY LOVELY TO HAVE THE SWIMMING POOL DURING THE HOT WEATHER

Our family of 4 stayed for 3 nights at this hotel! Wow what an incredible place to visit!!! The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay! The hotel had a pool which we enjoyed in the afternoons after a day of exploring the Old Town and nearby attractions. A buffet breakfast was included which consisted of more food than you could possibly eat including local delicacies!

Very friendly people, with a very good location and easy private parking. The rooms were large with everything as expected. We made use of the swimming pool and that was very good. The breakfast was excellent, one of the best we had in Albania!

The wifi reception in the room was not good, outside around the pool the reception was good.

So many things. Great location: 5 min walk to the bazaar and all key sites but the hotel was very quiet and intimate. Good room size and very clean. Great service: very nice family runs the place and they really care about the guest experience. Nice to have the pool in the summer to cool off especially when +35. Last but not least great breakfast!

Everything was PERFECT! The people were extremely kind and helpful, the room was gorgeous and cool despite the hot summer, the location is very central and the pool is just fantastic after a hot day of visit. We loved our stay and would recommend it with no hesitation!
