How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe loved this hostel. It is in such a great location but tucked slightly off the road for more privacy. It was easy to find, the room was great and quiet, and most of the staff were super friendly and lovely. The whole hostel is very homey and cozy with great shared spaces. Really a fantastic hostel. The staff are also so helpful and they offer all services you could want help with for the area.
If you have animal allergies this might not be for you as they have many dogs and cats (both indoor and outdoor). But if you love animals then you would be in heaven. I would say most of the staff were super amazing but there was one who seemed like your presence was annoying and that they wanted to be anywhere but there, really strange for a hostel employee.

Verified reviewThe staff were very friendly, helpful and kind. They made you feel welcome. They arranged a day trip for us and gave us suggestions of what to do. The location is fairly central, walking distance to good cafes. The history of the hostel is beautiful.
The bathroom was separated from the family room which was a little inconvenient. It could also benefit from being updated. The wifi was weak and unusable.

Verified reviewGood hostel.
Would be nice if the rooms had locks so only the people staying inside could come in! Would be an extra bit of security that I've had at other hostels.

Verified reviewWe stayed here for one night before starting our trip to the north of Albania. The staff were really helpful arranging our transportation from Shkodër to Valbonë — the ticket cost around €28 and included all transfers. The hostel has a cool, hippie, backpacker vibe and a lovely green garden with plants, a ping-pong table, and friendly dogs. There’s also an outdoor bar area where you can chill with a beer and meet other travelers. The location is excellent; the bus from Tirana dropped us just a 5-minute walk away. They also offer luggage storage for €2 per night, which was very convenient for leaving our big bags during the hike. Overall, the price is great for what you get, and it’s perfect if you’re a solo traveler looking to meet people and arranging your trip to the Albanian Alps.
Communication was sometimes a bit tricky since not all staff speak English well (specially in Wpp). The common areas, like the living room and garden, could be a bit more organized and tidy.
Dear Tomas Thank you for taking time to write us the beautiful words We remeber you very good because of the favour we did you the last time you were here. As I always say ''Travelling should always be an act of humility'' And after I was chechking our conversations I didn't find an academic problem. So about the common areas we all need to help to keep that zone, no one can think that THE Mother need to hold everyonse back by seeing them what they left wrong and fixit after them because we are live in the same community and everyone has responsibility. My daughter always used to say ''fix your things aroud you, because your mother dosn't live here. All this you could say it to us to here in the hostel but you chose to write it here so we will use this to spread the idea of our hostel :]

Verified reviewThe way all hostels should be. During my stay the place was busy but not crowded. The garden and terrace were perfect to spend some time in during the hot afternoons and they have a bar as well. The dorms inside the house have AC, which was great. They also had bicycles to rent, great for going to Lake Shkoder. Staff was very kind and helpfull.
It's a great hostel, there was nothing I didn't like.
Thank you for the review Stefan We were happy to have you her. I can say the guest that every hostel would be happy to welcome.

Verified reviewThe staff are really friendly and helpful, the decoration is very cool and the history of the building is fascinating. They gave a great restaurant recommendation which helps women who have been in difficult situations which was delicious. Great central location.
The aircon was VERY appreciated but also very loud, so it was hard to sleep with it on but too hot with it off.
Hey Kira thank you for the beautiful words! And we will try to fix that problem as much as we can

Verified reviewGreat atmosphere, friendly hosts and owner, perfect place before departure to hikes in Albania (many recommendations by the hostel).
I had bed bugs in my bad - it destroyed my sleep. The guy in the reception helped to find different bed.
Hi Omer, We appreciate your feedback, but we want to be clear: our rooms are disinfected and cleaned every single day. If even one night is ruined, it’s not just a small issue for you — it becomes a big issue for us too. We lose sleep over it, literally and figuratively. That said, it’s important to note that bed bugs don’t always come from inside the property — they can also be brought in from outside, including by guests themselves. So while we’re sorry for your discomfort, we also think it’s unfair to assume blame so quickly, especially when we work hard every day to maintain high hygiene standards. We’re glad you still appreciated the atmosphere and our staff’s efforts to help, but next time, we’d appreciate a bit more understanding — we’re not perfect, but we do care, and we act immediately when issues are brought to us.
