Everything was lovely. The host was very helpful, especially with finding the location, as the streets there are narrow. The view from the terrace during breakfast was spectacular, you could see the castle. The room was big enough and looked new and very clean. Breakfast was also great, with a wide variety of food and special care from the host. We highly recommend this place.

The bathroom was a little unconventional as the shower was located between the toilet and the sink, but this didn’t bother us at all.

Himalayas was one of the most hospitable places I have ever stayed- as a guest, you really feel like you are being welcomed into someone’s home. Nothing was too much to ask and the breakfast was super delicious and extensive. The terrace that you eat the breakfast on has the most incredible view! Our room was very comfortable and had great aircon. The place was easy enough to find- we got lost once but that had nothing to do with the location, and had everything to do with trying to use Google Maps in some of Albanias smaller towns (not all roads are marked and some are single lane but not marked as such). It’s super easy to get there if you use the road below the castle and then turn up the cobbled street. I would definitely recommend this place as it is amazing value for money.

Very welcoming owners - they treated us so nicely and they made sure we had everything we need. The rooms have an amazing view over Gjirokaster and the castle, it's lovely to sit outside on one of the balconies. Everything is reachable by foot: the castle, the city center, and the famous bridge. If you're staying in Gjirokaster, you won't regret staying at Himalayas! Oh, and the breakfast is delicious!

Location is at the top with mountain views. Cobbled street's, 10min walking to town via a tunnel that goes under the castle. Room was tidy, great breakfast & lovely welcoming host. Would definitely recommend this place to stay.

Redina was a wonderful host! Very caring and helpful with suggestions on best restaurants and how to walk to the castle and bazaar. Breakfast was amazing both mornings we stayed. So generous! Loved the welcome tea /coffee and cake. Stay here for the gorgeous roof top view and amazing service!

Like most of the cities in Albania, the streets were destroyed and it can be frightened, just drive slowly and announce your arriving time.

Best breakfast in the whole Albania! Thanks Redina for your kindness. The view to the mountain while having breakfast is something you'll never forget. We totally recommend this place to stay a couple of nights. It's also well located, 15min from the old Bazaar by walking. There's a traditional familiar restaurant a few steps from the place and we recommend trying it. Also the little dog next to the property will give you a lot of love. We could've stayed more time there.

Wonderful stay at a lovely guesthouse. The room has everything you need. The terrace has an amazing view across the valley to the mountains and across to the castle. It is wonderfully peaceful to sit up there and eat breakfast, which was also amazing. The family were so kind, hospitable and helpful. From homemade cake to reserving a bus and dropping me off at the bus stop. Highly recommended.

Everything was great. The room was cute and newly renovated, and had everything we needed. The host was very friendly, caring and attentive to everything. Also, breakfast was amazing, so much great food. And last but not least, the amazing view of the mountains and castle from the rooftop cannot be better.

It was an amazing experience. The people you will meet there are all wondefull, and the place itself is great. The view from the top terrace was our favorite experience from visiting this city. Simply if you want to stay in Gjirokastër, this is the place you are looking for.

A bit of a climb (by foot or car) to get there much so much more character in this place than in lots of lodges (and Gjirokaster itself, which is in lots of places destroyed by fancy hotels, stupid shops and interchangeable restaurants)

The shower was powerful and hot, but we did have some water leakage into the room from the bathroom when using the shower

The location is great for visiting the castle and the bazaar. Himalayas is at the top of the hill offering spectacular views from the restaurant/roof terrace. It also means you don't have to walk up to the castle to see it The place is very clean and very homely. The bed is very comfortable. Redina and her family were really helpful. If you drive there using Goggle maps and it tells you to turn left up a steep narrow lane beside a grey building DO NOT TURN carry on the cobble stone road, it goes to the same place. The turning is now a closed road. Breakfast was amazing and plentiful.

Beautiful Room as shown and comfortable bed. The rooftop view is amazing. The breakfast was the best we have had in Albania by some margin. Ledina was an incredible host and helped us with our taxi the next morning. Nice 10 minute stroll into the old town. Would love to stay again.
