How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful traditional Albanian rooms with renovated bathrooms, right in the heart of Berat. Easy walk to restaurants. Parking available. Big breakfast. We loved it!

Verified reviewI cannot say enough good things about this place. Location couldn't be better, typical Berat house but not too far from the main road, so you don't need to "climb" with your bags. Perfect to walk around Berat and Goriza. The room was amazing, looked carved in stone, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was incredible, it was so much we couldn't eat all of it. But the best was the people, everyone made us feel very welcome. The owner answered all my questions before we arrived. And while we were there they helped us get to our new destination even after we checked out. We lost our bus and they made calls to find out how we could get to our destiny for our budget. True Albanian kindness that we will never forget.
That we had to leave so soon. We should have booked two night

Verified reviewThe breakfast was plentiful and excellent. The service fantastic! The location was perfect, but for the loud music next door.
On Saturday evening, there was very loud live music playing next door. I couldn’t sleep until after the band finished playing at midnight.
"Thank you for your lovely words about our breakfast, service, and location. We’re sorry for the loud music on Saturday night — it was from a nearby venue in Mangalem, not from our guest house. We hope it won’t affect your nice memories of staying with us."

Verified reviewWhat a special place! We loved our stay in Berat and were so glad we got to stay at this location. The hostess was so warm and friendly--and her breakfasts were wonderful! The location was great... It's a small town, but even so, this place was right in the heart of everything. The views walking down the outside stairs were so beautiful. The wifi was good and the rooms (we had three) were all perfect! We would love to stay here again!

Verified reviewThe couple that run this place, Jozef and Rosena (apologies if that's not exact) went above and beyond. They were attentive. They were friendly. They were extremely helpful. They were genuine. The place was spotless and had a very warm feeling to it. The location is ideal.

Verified reviewLovely host! We liked everything. The room was impressive, very authentic, the bathroom had a rocky wall (wauwww). The breakfast was also above expectations. Make sure to ask before your stay where to park. Don't arrange it last minute.

Verified reviewA perfect place to stay - lovely renovated ottoman guest house - just one level the Main Street on the river. Delightful owners who were amazingly hospitable, even took us the bus station at no cost - crisp linen, thick towels, aircon, delicious breakfast served on the patio. Big bonus there was a small bar with an honesty system and you could settle your entire bill with a card. Thoroughly recommend.

Verified reviewIt's location is convenient - in the heart of Berat and just off Rruga Antipatrea, very close to the new bridge. It's not far up the hill. Don't let Google Maps mislead you in going a long way across a lot of steps. Joseph was a wonderful host. He met all of our needs and cooked us a delicious breakfast each morning.
I can't think of anything.

Verified reviewWe enjoyed an excellent full breakfast, included with the room. My brother and sister-in-law visited from the USA. A one-night trip to Berat was a must! We had a wonderful time, thanks to the exceptional hospitality of the hosts. The facility is spotless, the rooms are lovely and well-appointed. Guest House J. Prifti is a historic building carefully converted into a small guest house. Renovation is preservation when done correctly and great care has been taken to preserve this beautiful structure which was once a family home. The location is fantastic, steps away from many restaurants, shops, and historic attractions. It is perfect for solo travelers. Be sure to visit the Fani Winery tasting room only a few steps away! The winery is also part of this family business. The wine is SUPERB!
There is nothing I did not like, everything was fantastic.

Verified reviewThis was the most beautiful guesthouse and the host, Josef was very friendly and helpful. It was in a great area to explore the town, but with only a dozen or so steps up to the guesthouse from the main road, making it very easy with luggage. Bed was super comfy, bathroom & shower were fabulous and the breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. Highly recommend this wonderful guesthouse.

Verified reviewLovely guesthouse, conveniently located in the old town. Spacious and clean room with much needed air conditioning. Great breakfast and really friendly and helpful host. Lovely terrace to enjoy a drink in the evening.
If you arrive by car just be aware it's difficult to park close to the guesthouse/in the area. There is parking you can pay for (5 euro's a day) just further along the main road if you follow the river.
