How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAmazing hostel with super friendly staff. There are animals everywhere and fresh fruit to pick in the garden — such a unique atmosphere! Only a 15-minute walk from the city center.
No A/C and some mosquitoes at night, but they provide spray. Hens get noisy early in the morning.

The light at night that guests left in the kitchen. So it was too bright in our chalet !

Verified reviewThe owner was lovely. She was so hospitable; it was as though we had been invited off the streets as guests and just looked after. It didn’t feel as though we were paying customers. The surroundings of the property were also beautiful with lots of fruit producing trees. Breakfast was amazing with fresh eggs produced by her chickens that morning. So many nice things to say about this place.

Verified reviewThe lady is incredibly nice and helpful. I felt being in good hands. It is a safe place and like it should be in a hostel, I met nice people from all over the world. I am very grateful that I got breakfast, because this is really seldom in Albania. Thanks a lot for the nice time I spent there.
There was no ventilator in the room and I booked it, because in the description it was written that there is one. Therefore it was till 12 at night really hot in the room

Verified reviewFatima is very welcoming. We stayed in a chalet which was really comfortable with a sofa and table outside to enjoy the garden. Very peaceful place adjacent to vibrant town of Elbasan. Clean facilities and delicious breakfast. Good value.

Verified reviewIt was such a wonderful time here, we could just sit forever in this beautiful garden, watching the chickens, cats etc. It was so peaceful. And the breakfast was unbelievably good. And then our host was so nice, she even brought us the bus station and waited with us for the bus. We really want to come back some day!

Verified reviewThe garden was spacious and beautiful and the host so kind and friendly. I booked a private room and it was stifling with no fan or aircon. Very dark even with the lights on. Not so appealing.
My room was bland and not so comfortable, especially in the heat!! Shower was so so - super hot or super cold. The property was also quite a long walk from town

Verified reviewThis is a great place to stay if you are looking for local experience. We loved the place, garden with fruits and vegetables, chickens, goat, cats. The room was nice and clean, bathroom as well. There is common external kitchen, with small portable stoves, pots are available. The owner, lady, was very nice and welcoming, "mum like" ;) The breakfast was delicious, egg,fig jam, goat cheese, bread, all of it homemade! We had a parking spot inside in the garden. There is not much around, but you get to the city by walking in 30mins and the closest good restaurant (Antika) is 15mins walking. We had a really nice experience staying at this place. Thank you!

Verified reviewThis is my second time I have stayed at this hostel for consecutive days. One would think that any place would lose its magic by the second time around but, quite to the contrary, this place never fails to impress. Although there may not be such a thing as a perfect hostel, this one comes pretty close.

Verified reviewThe location is outside the city, in a local neighborhood, which I actually like. The owner, who reminds me of my mum, kindly gave me warm pajamas when I ran out of clothes.

A bit away from the center but a peaceful place. openly said: Elbasan is not worth more than a day - if you don't have a car to see the surrounding area.

Verified reviewThe hosting lady was very flexible as I booked the place late in the evening in offseason and so despite being a bit unprepared for my visit, she did everything to feel in comfort. So I didn't need to share the dorm with anyone, as I was totally alone. Thank you for the chance! :) The bathroom and the dorm were both very clean!
The kitchen and its facilities should be a bit more taken care of.
