Beyond Expectations – Truly Amazing Experience Our stay was absolutely beyond expectations. The place was spotless, incredibly comfortable, and ideally located close to the city center. Zamira, our wonderful host, went above and beyond, she woke up very early to prepare us a delicious breakfast, and her husband kindly accompanied us as we were leaving Gjirokastër to make sure we didn’t get lost in the charming but tricky little streets. Their hospitality was truly exceptional. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Gjirokastër!

Zamara is the world's greatest host! She and her husband made us truly feel like family. The location is excellent, in close proximity to key tourist sites. And to top it off, her breakfasts are divine. She puts out an amazing spread. We will be visiting again!

We liked everything

The guesthouse is in the perfect location very close to the old town. The rooms are perfectly clean and have all the facilities you need, including a small fridge and air-conditioning. What really makes this place is the lovely family who runs the guesthouse and does everything possible to make sure their guests are happy and comfortable ❤️ We loved our stay and would recommend Ahmetaj Guest House to everyone! For future guests - if arriving by car and using Google maps, make sure not to opt for the shortest route up the hill. Go with the longer route. It is also up-hill but less scary 😅 Your friendly hosts will help you find parking

The stay was all great, one piece of advise would be for people to contact them and ask for help if the are driving to the guest house. They will help you navigate the small roads and park.

A bit challenging to finding the house through a labyrint of small and partwise steep streets, if coming by car. Small bathroom, but everything else perfect.

A very friendly host, served a coffee and a glas of vine extra; small balcony in front of the room with a beautifull sight to castle and down to town; traditional stone house with a breakfast room like a small museum; house is close to the old basar.

Lovely wood panelled rooms - mine had a great view across the valley. The central area of town is near, though rooms are quiet. Star attraction though is hostess Zamira. She welcomed us with coffee , cake, fruit and raki and gave us fantastic breakfasts every day. On leaving her husband drove us to the bus station. Would return here without hesitation and recommend as one of the top accommodation experiences I’ve ever had.

Driving up there through the steep winding streets was a liiiiitle bit scary (but that's not their fault!)

Beautiful, cosy house with the perfect mix of clean modern rooms with the traditional decoration. The owner Samira was so warm and lovely, made us feel very welcome with cake and coffee as soon as we arrived. Plus our room had an amazing view of the valley. Traditional Albanian breakfast that Samira cooked was delicious as well

Ahmetaj Guest House is excellent accommodation in the medieval hilltop town of Gjirokaster with views of the castle.  The room was quiet, meticulously clean with a comfortable bed. The owners were fabulous. Samire is to be congratulated as she is a thoughtful, kind person. She not only cares about her guests & the quality of their stay but also is very generous. The breakfast Samire provided was delicious and plentiful. We didn't need lunch! Her cooking is superb! We highly recommend staying at  Ahmetaj Guest House

Amazing views. Friendly host. Was given a bottle of raki to drink during stay on arrival. Breakfast is huge and tasty. Was visited by a friendly cat in evening. Easy walking distance from old town attractions and castle. Easy check in good price

The hosts were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Even took us to catch our bus. So friendly and kind. Gave us snacks and drinks! The breakfast was brilliant. We were so close to the attractions. Would definitely recommend.

The room was not very big but it was very cozy and it had a lovely big terrace. The owner was great. Very friendly and caring. Wonderful woman. She even took us to catch the bus to go to the bus station. Lovely breakfast. Right in the city center. Thank you

There wasn't anything I didn’t like. Everything exceeded my expectations, and I had a very pleasant stay.

Our stay at Guest House Ahmetaj was truly exceptional. The hospitality was outstanding – the hostess personally prepared fresh, homemade meals for us, which made the experience feel even more special. The location is perfect, situated right in the heart of the ancient city, just a 2-3 minute walk to the main attractions. Cleanliness was impeccable, and the internet connection was stable, offering speeds of around 20-25 Mbps. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I highly recommend it!

Very friendly owners, we were made to feel most welcome. Offered tea, coffee and juice on arrival and raki during our stay. Owner even came and escorted us to the hotel when we got lost driving there. Very close to the centre of town
