Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayNothing really bad about the guest house. It’s a bit more pricey than the other accommodations we have had in Albania, also the food/drinks was more pricey. However, I think that’s more of a general trait about theth rather then Gurra family guesthouse. We waited 1h past time for the minibus that’s was going to take us to shköder in order to get to Tiranë. I think this is also not the accommodations fault, but more a general trait for Albanian culture, that they’re not very timely.
Location was great if your walking the valbonë-theth hike. The room was super nice with a cozy balcony. The room and hotel in general, was very clean. We had dinner there which was very nice and tasty. Breakfast was also good. Traditional Albanian breakfast which we have eaten in every city , but in a buffet style, which was the first time we had. This was especially nice since you then can choose how much you want of the different «dishes». The staff was also great, helped us with booking taxi back to shköder/tiranë. Very service minded and entertaining.

United KingdomThe only negative was that service at dinner was a little chaotic. We were told the kitchen was very busy and there would be a bit of a wait which in itself isn’t a problem as they were very honest. Unfortunately it meant that all the dishes came out eventually except one of the mains that we had ordered which came out an hour later.
Recently renovated, our room was lovely. Easy parking outside and great location in the village.

United KingdomSlightly dim lighting in the room (but we were barely in it!)
Great central location in middle of Theth (which you realise when you get there is a huge positive!). Has a lovely restaurant which is reasonably priced and gives huge portions with friendly staff. Would recommend the potatoes with pana, which is like a melted cheese sauce. It is very near to where the bus from Shkoder drops you off and also near to the two Mini Markets and the ATM if you need any supplies, as well as other bars and restaurants. Only a 10 minute walk to the church, the start of the Grunas Waterfall trail and the start of the Theth to Valbona trek as well. There are taxis just outside who can take you most of the way to the Blue Eye for €5 per person if you don't fancy the 3 hour walk each way. Staff were very accommodating and able to give information about local things to do and could make a packed lunch for trekking if you were unable to make breakfast (which starts at 07:30 for those planning to go over the Valbona pass). Bed was super comfy and had lovely decor and a nice waterfall shower in the room. It is also the only place we could find in Theth that had AC in the room which is essential in the summer months! Would highly recommend (and would not consider staying outside of the centre of Theth now, given how convenient it is!).

NetherlandsGurra Family Guesthouse was very comfortable and beautifully renovated – cozy, clean, and welcoming. The staff were kind and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. It’s the perfect spot for one or two nights in Theth. Would definitely recommend it for a short, relaxing stay in the mountains.

AustraliaPower occasionally would trip, sounds like this might be a Theth wide issue though.
Centrally located in Theth with very good restaurant on site, breakfasts included provided barista made coffee and large spread, we ate dinner at the restaurant which was delicious and well priced. The room was comfortable with air-conditioning. Staff were helpful and nice during our stay.

BelgiumWe booked a 4-person appartement, but the stairs to get to the second bedroom were very very narrow (tricky at night). We left very early morning to hike from Theth to Valbona so we didn't have breakfast. We ordered lunch instead of the breakfast but had to pay an extra 14€ pp for this, which was very expensive for the limited content of the lunchbox (a boiled egg, a tomato, a cucumber, a slice of bread (dry), some white cheese)
Friendly staff, good restaurant, nice terrace, good and central location

CanadaThere was an unpleasant smell coming from the drain in the morning. Adding a few lounge chairs in the garden would make the outdoor space more enjoyable. During our stay, some buildings around the hotel had been demolished due to permit issues, which made the surroundings in the village of Theth less charming
The room with the mezzanine was perfect for a family. The hotel is new, very clean, and tastefully designed. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was much appreciated. It’s also ideally located for the start of the hike

LatviaWe absolutely loved our stay at Gurra Family Guesthouse – such a charming place with truly wonderful hosts! We stayed in a two-level apartment and a one-bedroom room. Both were clean, cozy, and had super comfortable beds. We especially enjoyed the balcony with mountain views – the perfect spot to relax after a hike. Breakfast was excellent – a buffet with plenty of tasty options, and you could eat as much as you liked. We also had dinner here – portions were huge and very delicious! The hosts even offered us a taste of their homemade raki, which was a lovely touch. They kindly prepared picnic lunch packs for our hike, which was really helpful. Overall, we felt very welcomed and taken care of. Highly recommend this guesthouse if you’re staying in Theth!

United StatesJust be sure to rent a crossover or 4x4. Driving to Theth is not for the faint of heart.
Location is perfect. We were able to hike from the hotel to the Valbona pass. We drove to blue eye. They have a parking spot up front. Once you cross the bridge to enter the town that whole street is unpaved, but manageable. The restaurant serves delicious food, huge servings, so order one main if you're two. I recommend the lamb. We went to another restaurant one night and immediately regretted it. So we ate here all other nights. Breakfast buffet provides something for everyone. Room was smallish but clean and comfortable. Wifi sometimes disappeared at night. Bathroom had everything we needed. Balcony had a lovely view. Overall it's not modern luxury, it's a beautiful family run guesthouse and by the time we left I had a huge amount of respect for the hard working, funny, kind, and resilient people of this town.
