How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe cleaning was non-existent, and the apartment was dusty, dirty, and sticky. It didn’t match the photos, the TV screen was smashed, lights were not working, the tub was in poor condition, and there was no housekeeping. Staff only appeared on the last day, guilt-tripping us by saying they’d lose their jobs if we didn’t give 5 stars—likely how many good reviews were obtained. For the high price, service and maintenance were far below standard. The only plus is the location—everything else is disappointing.

Hello. First of all apologies for the inconvenience we have caused and the experience you had to go through. We always prioritise our clients requirements first and formost which is why we have maintained a higher rating so far and known for customer service and satisfaction. Regarding the cleanliness, only if you had informed once you checked in or in your few days that you have this problems we have would definitely solved the issue either by deep cleaning again or move you to a different apartment but you never complained in your whole time of stay which came as a surprise. If you had expressed the issue we would have definitely worked on it for a solution so a review of 1 is surprising to us as you had stayed for 5 days and without any complain and usually if a guest have so much issues with the apartment they usually choose not to stay and apply for a refund rather than stay for the overall booking period. Regarding the request for the staff we will definitely investigate about that and about what you said that we have gotten reviews like that through this way but I am sorry to say it’s actually not possible to get hundreds of excellent reviews through this as the guest would eventually give reviews based on the services and the staff can only just request for a good one if they liked the service which is normal for all the sectors. We have also allowed to late check out with additional costs as well as you had requested that. Also we have multiple number of apartments and portfolio has different pictures as well. If it were not the same as in pictures none of the guest would have stayed actually. Apologies again though for the inconvenience.

No cleanliness, no proper management, no proper cleaning inside the apartment, we were group of 5 people and there were no towels provided , the kitchen cabinets were not ok , the gas stove was not clean , the utensils provided were like in bits and pieces. Staff’s intention was only to take good review by asking directly to us and also informed us that they would provide good discount if we give them a good review. This building could be much better if it can be managed by some good staff.

I hope you had informed me right away as we had conversation earlier I would have taken instant action and either have changed your room or provide with everything that you needed.Regarding the review that you have mentioned we request guest to give us a good review if they have liked the stay but never before we have heard we have offered discount in exchange if review. the way to park your car because is multiple towers and couldnt figure out how to open the gate barrier they dont have trolly to take ur luggage we found some stuff in the apartment we dont know if it belong to the owner or the previous tenant , like personal things

Mattresses were like rocks or cement .we couldnot sleep and had to leave after first night although we booked and paid for 3 nights. Taps and shower heads were leaking from everywhere.
Hello. Firstly apologies for the inconvenience we have caused. In our defence, when you checked in late night at 12:30 am which was past our check in time of 11 pm after which we don’t allow check in. When you came and checked the apartment you were satisfied and checked in with your family. When you complained regarding the mattress late at night we assured you we will change your apartment the next day and promised to do that as customer satisfaction is our main priority. But you declined the offer and also next day we requested you that we will give you another apartment but you left. Also if you had requested for a refund we would have gladly accepted through booking.com. You could have requested a refund from booking.com which we would have accepted. As it was an online payment they return could only be done through booking.com. If it was cash payment we would have refunded you right away. Customer satisfaction is our main priority which is ch is why we have such high rating. But giving a review of 1 hampers our effot largely as we tried oir best to resolve the issue and would have refunded you as well if you had gone through booking.com. Neverthless apologies again for the inconvenience.
