How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nice hotel. Room service good. Reception very friendly. Breakfast value for the. Money. Comfy bed.spa and pool good. But steam room needs more attention. Specially daily cleaning. Very smelly

Great hotel excellent staff, staff from front desk till cleaning staff all very friendly and help full.hotel have excellent break fast and evening meal was great with different dishes every day.hotel located in good spot 10 minutes walk to metro station. 15 minutes drive to jumara ,burj al arb beach.and 10 minutes drive to dubai frame and future museum.overall good.

Great stay at this hotel. All the staff were amazing. So friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The lifeguards did a superb job and moved our umbrella as the sun moved! Also they were very diligent in regard to safety. Special thanks too to the staff in the restaurant and the chefs - breakfast and evening meals were delicious. And thanks to the reception and manager at the restaurant for organising a takeaway food package before we left. Coffee at the small cafe was excellent and again great staff. Room was large with plenty of storage space. Cleaned well each day and toiletries provided. Hotel is not too far from the airport and there are plenty of cafes/restaurants around should you wish to eat out. Also a supermarket nearby. If you want to be near the shopping malls this is possibly not for you. We have been to Dubai several times and stayed in different hotels on each occasion. But, if we return, we will definitely stay at The Grand Excelsior again . Best regards to all the staff! Sue & Ian, Australia

The bathtub needed replacing - could only have a shower as the bath tub was peeling. The music from the ground floor/ basement was too loud until 3am. The roof top pool area could offer a little more shade, and cold water to drink.
Amazing value for money. Very spacious room and generous sized beds in the family room that we had. Both children had a double bed to themselves. The staff were helpful and friendly.

A bit outdated, but for the price the deal was excellent.
The hotel is clean, well located, has a pool, staff is great. However, what was most spectacular was food. Especially dinner, for the price was amazing.

When we pulled back the bed covers on our final morning we discovered dried excrement on the sheets at the end of the bed. Disappointed we were not offered any compensation for this as it was disgusting. It was definitely not from us.

Access area to the pool could be made safer with a handrail as it gets slippy when people walk down wet. Pool bar would benefit from drinks there as had to order and wait for them to be delivered from downstairs.
Staff were helpful. Rooms were spacious, A little updating would be beneficial. Pool staff were very helpful and lovely.
