How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe apartment is perfect. Large, comfortable, fully equipped. Although it is located on the 34th floor, the elevators are very fast and take no time at all. The view from the bedroom on the Blue water island is magical. The location of the apartment could not be better. JBR complex. The beach and the marina are very close. I am sure I will book this apartment again.

Verified reviewLocation is super-convenient. 24hr store and pharmacy next to the building entrance. Great views, close to the beach, yet a bit isolated with a private platform connecting multiple buildings. Catching cab in front of the building is super-easy and also, beach, stores and restaurants are very close as well. Owners made effort to give us keys although it was 3 am and were also available and forthcoming for all our questions and needs. We always felt safe and in a few days we really felt at home. Price/quality ratio is quite good. I would highly recommend.

Verified reviewThis apartment is so spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Having 2 separate bedrooms and bathrooms was a real bonus whilst travelling with my 18 year old son. The price is also good for a 2 bedroom apartment as that would normally cost more in the JBR area. Knowing that we were going to be on the 34th floor was a real bonus as it did limit the traffic and nightlife noise coming from the street level which I think may be unpleasant if on lower floors especially if you are a light sleeper like myself. So lovely waking up to the amazing view from the master bedroom every morning. So much included in the apartment, a real home from home and no morning disturbance from cleaners which you often get in a hotel. The surrounding area is buzzing and the buildings truly beautiful. JBR has everything and the Shams buildings are in the best location, nearest the best section of the beach and very close to the tram and metro. No need for a car as so easy to walk and take the Metro if you want to go further afield, taxis also very cheap and plentiful outside the building. Definitely recommend and will definitely look to stay here again if I choose to stay in the JBR area.
Although swimming pools were clean and good for a swim there were very few sunbeds which may be an issue if you want to have any extended time around the pool. This didn't really affect us too much as we were out and about visiting the main tourist sites. Will save my lazy sunshine holiday for the Mediteranian in the summer months! JBR Beach is only a few minutes walk and we did have a day there but 2 sunbeds and an umbrella cost around £50. Traffic at weekends is gridlocked around Shams but not an issue if you walk and use the tram or metro.

Verified reviewThe property is very clean with stunning view on Dubai Eye from main bedroom and both Jumeirah beach and lake from the balcony. It's on high floor so you can see the crowd without noise. The kitchenette and dining set are complete, great for family and friends. The JBR area is no doubt a perfect location with many resto along the beach, all in walking distance.
The JBR is always crowded as you expected thus the traffic can be very congested. But the tram station is nearby as alternative.

Verified reviewLoved the views which were superb from every window and especially the balcony. The location was perfect only minutes from the beach and a well stocked supermarket at the bottom of the building. (although traffic getting into JBR in the evening was very busy!). The rooms were all immaculate and a good size, the kitchen was well stocked and the beds were super comfy!
