Valdez was good.
Valdez was good. Would of like a restaurant to fix what you catch. For the prices to eat I would lot a better portion of food. The fat mermaid was a disappointment. But the Valdez Outfitters was top notch! Would love to come back. We were on No Name for the first fishing adventure. We didn't catch our limit. But we did catch silver & pink salmon. My husband caught the variety of fish. We had 5 people on our boat. Guss did a tremendous job of trying to find the fish. He tried his hardest for us to catch our limit. But the fish didn't corporate. He warn us to watch our poles. So some people missed out on a big fish. I think if you missed your opportunity then the next person should be up to reel in a fish. But everybody had there chance. I think a deck hand would help. But I know it's crowded to make sure everybody gets a turn. Guss needs a chair with cushions.! Then for the second day of fishing. We went on the Chugach girl. Iit was for firther out in the ocean. But the weather wasnt going to corporate. But we went for the smaller Halibut. We caught our limit but they only weigh 15 lbs. We caught out limit on black bass (rock fish). The seats were better, but the waves were at least 6' or higher. It was ruff but we were there to fish. Lloyd was so fantastic. I don't think anybody was waiting for bait. We did get tangled up a bit. But that's the currents fault. Lloyd worked his butt off. The current made it Ruff. I highly recommend the VALDEZ OUTFITTERS ! This was my bucket list trip. Would love to come back to Valdez to Fish. Thank you to Guss & Lloyd. Hope if we do get to come back it's with you guys. Would love to reel in a Halibut thats a 100 pounder or bigger.Guest review byYates - 10.0
Glennallen is a great little town in Alaska.
Glennallen is a great little town in Alaska. One has to be open minded, and roll along as the weather is. However, the locals are friendly, one doesn't starve, the views are great (Wrangells), and one should drive around and enjoy what this particular part of Alaska has to offer.Guest review byBernhardAustria - 10.0
We would give this property an 11 out of 5.
We would give this property an 11 out of 5. Great accomodation and wonderful surroundings. We had visits from the farm animals which was nice. A very central place for visits to McCarthy and Valdez. There was heaps of room for the four of us and 2 bathrooms was a plus.Guest review byRayAustralia - 10.0

The little town of Glennallen is a mere 14 miles from this Alaska destination. Not too far away you can experience the Dip Netting in Chitnia, watch lost of tourists fish or obtain a fishing charter for yourself, or a river boat trip, ATV trip for the family. Many hiking trails Wrangell St. Ellias National Park, Charter a Plane Ride. The folks are Freindly its a different way of life here so leave the City behind and come enjoy all of Natures Beauty. In the little town: IGA Grocery Store, Glennallen Hardware & Lumber (they carry a little bit of everything), NAPA, Post Office, Subway, Coffee Shop, Tok Thai and Ernesto's Mexican Food and 2 Banks in the main town.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Loved the museums, especially the one with the movie detailing the traumatic events of the earthquake of 1964. Several restaurants to choose from and we enjoyed all the meals we had. Pretty dock area but the highlight was the spectacular waterfalls in the canyon as you approached the city. And Glacier Lake. And Robe Lake where we watched a unique machine churn the water for the benefit of the fish, Nice folks at the Visitors' Center, too.Guest review byNancyUnited States - 4.0
If you're coming to this area looking to visit Wrangell St-...
If you're coming to this area looking to visit Wrangell St-Elias as I had...don't. There is a visitor center near by, but that's about it. All the fun stuff is in McCarthy Stay in Valdez or make it out to McCarthy if your vehicle can/will make it. (plan ahead and research McCarthy and the road leading to it!!) Food options in Glenallen are limited at best, but it has one of the only gas stations for miles. So it's got that.Guest review byNicoleUnited States
