- From US$129.80 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 479 reviewsThis became our favourite hotel out of all the hotels we stayed during this journey. It was a great time for us during the two nights we stayed in this hotel. It's an echo friendly, sustainable, nature loving hotel with immense of activities to enjoy whilst your stay. Fabulous staff starting from the cleaning staff in the garden, security (third party), bell desk, waiters, cooks, chefs, room service, housekeeping, laundry staff, and management everyone amazing. Very helpful, more generous, and always willing to do their job beyond the expected level. Really appreciated. Some of them were exceptional; Asitha, Lilanga, Melani, Chamara, Ranjith, Dananjya, Nalini, Senaratne, Sugath, Sumith, Thakshila and room services boy. Accommodation: We stayed at "Tamarind" a superior suite. Only two of these for the hotel. It was kind of a small home for us. Had lots of space. King Bed was superb. Interior decoration was excellent. Charm colours and antique type furniture combination makes a vibrant look for this gorgeous suite. Outside couch was ideal for relaxing tea over the lake view. Bathroom is massive and it has a great view of the lake. 2 shower cubicles, Jacuzzi, 01 toilet, 02 vanities, and this comes with full set of amenities. Restaurant: Fabulous food with real authentic taste. A very good selection. every time we go there we spent lots of time talking to people and most of the time meal hours are over and we were still having meal. Short walk To Cinnamon Village: Can play on the swing, tree house, and jump on a kayak for a lake tour (at a cost LKR2000 per person). Pool - It's right next to the restaurant. Organic farm and butterfly garden: plan a small walk to the organic farm and see the butterflies on the wayGuest review byAnuNew Zealand
- From US$371.76 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 123 reviewsGreat and very friendly staff in all departments of the hotel. The hotel’s very own naturalists are brilliant and are assisting with everything you need for a successful trip or excursion - water, juices, soft drinks and cool refreshing towels are always part of the service. We enjoyed the big pool for all hotel guests as well as our private pool next to the room which helped us to feel really relaxed. The hotel is a true sanctuary and we enjoyed the nature and natural sounds every second of our stay. A minimum 3 nights stay is highly recommended to have enough time to discover the historic places and the nature in this part of Sri Lanka as well as to relax on property (we stayed 4 nights).Guest review byJonas MaxSwitzerland

The view is amazing and all the staff was very, very nice and helpfull. The receptionist helped us with all the trips and transfers. A big plus is that you can take the buffet meal, with all kind of local and international food. And the monkeys...that is a real experience to wake up with the monkeys in your balcony :-) We even had a local wedding, very interesting for us! Got the honeymoon suite for half the price of the website, therefore great value for money. The tent was a dream and we are so happy that we spent one night there. One thing that could have even further improved our stay: a bootle of bubbles in the minibar fridge - we would have bought it :)Guest review byLeonieSwitzerland

We reached Kandy after completing tour of pinnawala and ambulawa towers. We also visited Mahabodhi Vihara , from where Kandy lake had a good view. The shopping market at Kandy closed by 7pm, may we missed that.Guest review byJayantIndia - 10.0

A nice hike to view a breathe taking view. If anyone should travel to Sigiriya they should start to climb the rock at 5.30am as the ticket counters open. Wearing proper hiking or workout clothes would be the best.Guest review byGavin RosayroSri Lanka - 10.0

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.Guest review byImanAustralia - 10.0

The ancient city of Polonnaruwa has a lot to offer to the tourists who want to know about the history of Sri Lanka. It has so many ruins and monuments to view, and especially marvel at the stone crafting abilities of ancient Sri Lankans who have created so many buddhist states and artistic monuments by using rocks. Definitely a trip to add to your bucket list.Guest review byVidaneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.Guest review byUdanaSri Lanka - 10.0

Kandy is a city that wraps you in a gentle embrace from the moment you arrive. Its people are warm, genuine, and respectful, always ready to greet you with a smile and extend a helping hand. The air is fresh and cool, carrying the scent of hills and flowers, while the weather shifts softly between sunshine and mist. The cuisine is a delightful blend of tradition and flavor, from fragrant curries to freshly brewed tea, each bite telling a story of its rich culture. Here, honesty feels natural, safety is never in question, and respect for one another is a way of life. Kandy is not just a place you visit—it’s a feeling you carry home.Guest review byASHOUKMalaysia - 10.0

Sigiriya is stunning and has a lovely village charm to it, compared to the tourist/backpacker mecca that is Ella. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from but it somehow doesn't detract and Sigiriya still feels very local and true to SL values.Guest review byDominicUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Anuradhapura, one of the world's oldest continuously...
Anuradhapura, one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities, is a treasure trove of ancient history that stretches back to the 4th century BCE. Established by King Pandukabhaya, it served as the majestic capital of Sri Lanka for over a millennium, playing a pivotal role in the island's Buddhist heritage and cultural evolution. The arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, introduced by Mahinda Thera in the 3rd century BCE, marked a transformative era for Anuradhapura. This led to the creation of awe-inspiring stupas, monastic complexes, and elaborate water reservoirs that showcase the ingenuity of the time. Central to this transformation is the revered Sri Maha Bodhi tree, a sapling believed to have been taken from the very tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment, which continues to be a powerful pilgrimage site. Anuradhapura flourished as a vibrant hub of trade, culture, and religion. Its stunning architecture, exemplified by monumental structures like the Ruwanwelisaya and the Jetavanaramaya, reflects the extraordinary vision and craftsmanship of its builders—each stone telling a story of devotion, power, and artistry. Despite facing invasions and natural calamities that eventually led to its decline in the 10th century CE, Anuradhapura's legacy endured. The capital shifted to Polonnaruwa, but Anuradhapura remained a beacon of historical significance, earning its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, it captivates scholars and travelers alike, offering a glimpse into Sri Lanka's rich cultural lineage and inviting exploration of its ancient ruins, sacred sites, and the profound stories embedded within them. Anuradhapura is not just a city; it’s a living testament to the resilience and depth of a civilization that continues to inspire.Guest review bySudath WijeratneSri Lanka
