- From £304.02 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 2,072 reviewsWe got spacious 5th floor room with amazing view to Lake Maggiore. Room was stylish, WiFi was working well (connectivity & speed). Breakfast was amazing with high quality ingredients (cheeses etc.) Free parking was also nicely organized. Hotel itself has a good location on the beach of Lake Maggiore and just few mins walking distance to Stresa downtown and ferry docks to Isola Bella We continued our trip with good memories after excellent stay at Hotel La Palma - thx!Guest review byTimoFinland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 115 reviewsThis is especially perfectly located for bikers wishing to ride the amazing roads and cols of this area. Big bonus is secure parking (FOC). Signora hostess, in spite of no English, was very accommodating and tried hard! This is basic accommodation, clean and tidy but no real facilities to talk of. The restaurant below was not open in the evening so you need to make your own arrangements to either eat out or buy food to eat in.Guest review byAliPebUnited Kingdom

Stunning setting on the shores of Lake Maggiore, with a backdrop of the Italian Alps. Magnificent Borromean Islands Rich history of Stresa dotted with elegant Belle Époque villas and grand hotels from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.Guest review byAnonymousAustria - 8.0
The town Baveno is beautiful without any doubt!
The town Baveno is beautiful without any doubt! It has nice parks, architecture and magnificent views of Lake Maggiore and the Alps. Unlike Stresa, the town is not crowded with tourists. From Baveno there is a very fast and very convenient transport to the Borromean Islands, and the port has much fewer travelers than those in Stresa. From Baveno there is transport to other beautiful towns on Lake Maggiore, such as Stresa, Verbania, Locarno, Cannobio and Laveno. If you don't speak Italian and aren't traveling by car, you should definitely visit the Tourist Information Center in Baveno, where you may get help about your trip to other towns on Lake Maggiore. Without help from the people in Information Center, you could experience very serious difficulties and waste a lot of time due to following: 1. If you do not speak Italian you may encounter serious difficulties communicating with the locals. 2. Public transport by train or bus can be very problematic. 3. A delay of 40 minutes is common for buses. Sometimes bus drivers pass some of the stops without stopping! 4. Trains can be very late or not arrive at all due to strikes, repairs or sudden changes in the schedule. 5. Baveno lacks a bus station and you can't buy bus tickets anywhere else but from the bus driver, and the drivers don't speak English and charge you extra because you buy tickets in the bus, which is a catch-22! Some streets in the town lack sidewalks, which is a problem if you're not traveling by car.Guest review byDanielBulgaria - 10.0

Verbania Pallanza, especially its promenade is a great place to stay and visit Lago Maggiore. Great views over the lake and the mountains, lots of nice restaurants and bars, long promenade at the lake till Suna, less touristic than Stresa or Baveno.Guest review byDorotaBelgium - 10.0

I have been going to Cannobio for nearly thirty years it is a little gem on Lago Maggiore and is the essence if an Italian town. There are not many English or UK tourists, which makes it good to practise Italian. It sits on the lake with an amazing Sunday market and emits a feeling of comfort and home for me I should say its horrible to keep it a little secret but it is a great place to visit with amazing restaurants and good quality food with prices for all budgets and campsites tooGuest review byLouiseUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We arrived by train at a beautiful but mostly abandoned train station (unfortunate because it is a beauty!!) Town is on a surfboard-shaped plateau with beautiful bridges that access it by car or train. I did a walk around the whole plateau and was awe-struck by the beautiful old buildings and surrounding valleys. Plenty of coffee shops and cafes/restaurants if you don't want to eat at your hotel. So glad to have made the overnight stop here on our way from Turin to Menton by train.Guest review byLelandCanada - 10.0
First time visiting Domodossola.
First time visiting Domodossola. We used it as a base for heading out on hikes and we took the "Centovalli" train to Locarno in Switzerland. The centre of the old town is really charming. It is a peaceful town, not a lot of tourists. We found it very restful. Have heard that it is really beautiful in the autumn as well so we are considering going back. There are also a lot of very nice small towns and villages in easy driving distance, not to mention a number of lakes (including Lago Maggiore).Guest review byCas29Italy - 8.0

Plenty of restaurants and bars, many family run and same staff for many seasons. Some hotels have minibus service to slopes, a new thing for Relais but great service. Been going for years and great for a short or weeks trip.Guest review byalan - 10.0
Arona is a wonderful city, with plenty to do.
Arona is a wonderful city, with plenty to do. There is a Lake shore with lots of lovely restaurants and tasteful live music ( including a great pianist who plays near the ferry terminal most nights). There is a castle, a hop-on-hop-off train, and lots of classical Italian streets and shops in the Old Quarter of Arona. There is a ferry terminal with ferries that can take you to amazing locations on Lake Maggiore including to a number of small islands. There is a mainline train station with trains north to the foothills of the Alps or south to Milan and beyond. It appears to be a safe city, with a civilised night scene of people, couple and families enjoying walking along the Lakeshore promenade. A good location for people interested in boating also.Guest review byPatrickUnited Kingdom
