Absolutely everything!! This hotel is simply Devine. It is right in the middle of the old city. We couldn’t have been happier with our accomodation choice. We were also treated to the biggest and most delicious complimentary breakfast. I can’t recommend this accomodation enough! They also provided fantastic maps and recommendations for the city and restaurants to eat including our favourite… Kiev!!

Perfect location, in the Sassi, right at the piazza, great views and loved that the walking tour I signed up started right outside. There are restaurants literally as you step out of the property. World class facilities, the staff is phenomenal, so helpful, what a beautiful place. I can’t wait to go back again.! Thank you guys, you made me fall in love with Italy even more! As we travel with the loaded car, the safe parking is what we are looking firstly. The hotel has a safe big private parking. It is very new, modern, clean, comfortable hotel a bit out of the town. The stuff is exceptional. They stored our luggage while we went in the excursion after checking out. Breakfast is good, location is very quiet. Would recommend for those who travel by car.

Everything!! As soon as we stepped into the hotel, we were sure that the hotel was going to be something special. The view was incredible and the layout of the hotel is perfect, that allows any guest to feel like they are in paradise. The rooms are big and super comfortable. The staff was really friendly and helpful with of our concerns and questions. The breakfast was spectacular! Every morning we would have a big selection of italian pastries (cornetti and cakes), fresh fruis, fresh yogurt, eggs, cheese, bacon and so much more!! The pool added a really magic touch to the view and the statue of christ as the background was so just breathtaking. Couldn’t be happier with the place we chose to spend our 6th year anniversary. I recommend anyone to give a chave to this amazing hotel!!

The breakfast was so incredibly delicious, fresh, beautiful, thoughtfully laid out, extensive and varied, healthy, and had original local freshly baked breakfast sweets. The location is a once and a lifetime experience. We also had a private trou of the city with an archeologist whose grandmother had lived in the caves until her 20s and just died at 94. The staff is very thoughtful and organized; they greatly respect the meaning of the history there. We love this place and will never forget it. We learned about history in a visceral way, sleeping a cave that goes back 8,000 years (now with a comfortable bed and running water and beautiful local fruit to great you. HIghly r3ecommend.

Our stay at Vetera Matera was absolutely spectacular!

Our stay at Vetera Matera was absolutely spectacular! This 5-star hotel perfectly captures the magic of Matera while delivering uncompromising luxury at every turn. The Rooms: We stayed in rooms 7 and 16 - what a contrast! Room 16 offers breathtaking panoramic views over the entire Sassi, while room 7 provides an authentic cave experience carved directly into the ancient rock. Both rooms feature stunning vaulted stone ceilings and impeccable design that seamlessly blends historical authenticity with modern luxury. The Spa: Phenomenal! The wellness center with free spa access for all guests is incredible - what a fantastic inclusion! The facilities are world-class and having complimentary access to the spa amenities makes this exceptional value. We also booked a massage, which was absolutely wonderful. The Location: Perfect positioning in the UNESCO World Heritage Sassi district. You're literally staying within history itself, surrounded by millennial caves and ancient stone architecture. The Experience: Every detail reflects the hotel's commitment to excellence - from the careful restoration preserving authentic stone walls to the contemporary amenities. The staff's attention to detail and exceptional service made our stay truly memorable. Matera is indeed magical, and Vetera Matera is the perfect way to experience this ancient wonder. This hotel sets a new standard for luxury hospitality in one of Italy's most extraordinary destinations. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an unforgettable luxury experience in unique Matera!

We had the most amazing meal at La Torre restaurant, Giuseppe is an amazing chef. His wife is an amazing host. Our food was of a very high standard and very well presented. I liked the old city center area, all the restaurants and shops just a short walk on mostly level ground. It seemed very safe! I would have liked to see the museum but it was a little too far and down a steep hill for a troublesome knee. A little knowledge of Italian and a translation app was helpful. The people would work with you and overall we’re very kind.

We found Metaponto a peculiar town, but do not regret having visit it. The reason for our visit was that said town is the town in which Pythagoras died. Presumably everyone's travels are individually motivated. In our case the hotel we picked suited best our visit to Metaponto. We definitely recommend the hotel, and the visit to Metaponto, we leave everyone to decide for oneself.

Marinagri offers very unique vibe. It is peaceful and very tranquil, you will feel welcome and safe. Policoro is a small city. However it is very cute and people are kind, the weather is great in September. The reason I decided to travel to Marinaagri is sailing in the Ionian Sea. My sailing experience was sensational and I am happy I discovered new destination for my new sailing journeys. The food is amazing I did visited Nemo restaurant, this is very unique place with amazing food choices an first you may think it is a fast food place but I’d you go to Policoro you must try it it is amazing. Seafood is fresh and local and very tasty.

Rotonda would have been a far better base for hiking. We wanted to be in nature in an antico borgo but nothing in Viggianello seemed to be open other than 1 x tiny bar, the pharmacy and 1 x local shop. Rotonda is very attractive indeed and extremely friendly - we spent all of our non-hiking time in this locale. There are even 2 x museums.

Matera is an amazing town and needs a tour organised to hear of the history of the town and area is a must. We did an English tour with Seekers Viaggi travel Agency which was very informative and delivered very well. Questions were answered as required. The walking tour was at 5pm which was a perfect time - pretty quiet and nice to walk as the sun was setting. Need a good pair of shoes and be prepared to walk down stairs but then back up them at the end.

Had the best ever dessert at 1999 ll Ristorante. The food there was amazing . Loved the beach ,the water felt warm , great for swimming. The only thing we found difficult was parking . An interesting city for a short visit.

An interesting city for a short visit. A nice Archeological museum (general tours are in Italian exclusively). The city is rich in its theatre but unfortunately, we came out of a season. The historic city centre is situated on the top of a high natural hill; verticals in the city are striking. Therefore, free public elevators are quite ordinary means of transportation.
