- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,788 reviewsA big thumbs up for the very helpful staff of Hotel Laxa. When we were about to check out, we clumsily drove our car into a pile of snow accumulated in the hotel car park overnight and got stuck there. A few hotel guests around lent us a hand but still could not pull our car out. Fionn at the Front Desk came to assistance immediately upon our request. It was certainly some strenuous work he did to free our car from the thick snow. And he's our hero. Thanks also to another lady at the Front Desk who was very helpful. It's a pity that we did not know her name. All in all, it was a great stay at Hotel Laxá. It's clean, cosy and at a good location in the Myvatn area.Guest review byKAM MEIHong Kong
- From £301.56 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,800 reviewsWe stayed in the hotel 2 nights and we liked it a lot. The hotel is situated next to the beautiful lake Myvatn. There’s a free parking area next to the hotel. The rooms were clean and tidy. The food was always freshly prepared. We spent the evenings playing darts 🎯 and drinking their craft beer 🍻 I would like to thank the staff of the hotel. Everyone was friendly and helpful with smiley faces. We didn’t use the sauna and hot tubs but they looked nice. A nice compliment was free coffee and tea any time you wanted in the lobby. I recommend this hotel everyone who seeks for comfort and hospitality.Guest review byNataliaPoland
- From £240.94 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,104 reviewsOur kids really enjoyed the family room, with the beds stacked like a stair. The staff was friendly and the room was nice and clean. My wife really enjoyed the fact that our bathroom had a tub. Breakfast was good. Where we had it for me was super. In the library, with tons of books in several languages. I've started to read one during the breakfast time. The hotel has also a restaurant/bar whee we had a really good lamb soup.Guest review byLucaAustria
- From £125.56 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 489 reviewsThe location is very good. The staff are very friendly. The rooms are ok. Comfortables. I saw some comments regarding the rooms. People don’t say what is a guesthouse or they do not have the habit to travel. The decoration is very beautiful in the hall. I do recommend this hotel. Please book a table in the restaurante. The best tajine EVER. Bonus the jacuzzi. Love it ! :)Guest review byGustavoFrance
- From £239.55 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,386 reviewsThe room was spacious, clean, and had big comfortable beds. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel has a restaurant along with it which is also very good. The hotel's location is very close to the dock from where the Husavik whale-watching tours start (2 mins on foot). Continental breakfast was served in the morning with a wide variety of food.Guest review byMaitreyeeBelgium

I was travelling for business, but was very pleasantly surprised by Akureyri - a very nice town with good facilities, great resturants and bars, and everything within walking distance. There seemed to be a lot of things to do for tourists, but I was working so couldn't take advantage of them this time. Very picturesque location at the bottom of a Fjord, much nicer location than Rekjavik. It's a bit of a pain to get to from Rekjavik area (flight by small plane, or 5 hr drive) but well worth it once you're there.Guest review byDouglas - 10.0
We visited all the famous sites
We visited all the famous sites The Thermal baths was great. A big area (and currently expanding). The restaurant there was very reasonably priced for Iceland. They made a great coffee. Food was good. Went to the geothermal site which was pretty amazing. We hiked up Hverfjall, theextinct volcano which was interesting. Went to Dentifoss and Selfoss which were very impressive We enjoyed our stay. Well worth a visitGuest review byLawsonAustralia - 8.0

Whale watching was awesome! An absolute must do when visiting Husavik. Dining options are good, but you might want to stay at a place with cooking facilities to improve options and affordability Definitely check out the local museum. There wasn't a single thing wrong. From the place, to the location, the host, avaliable conveniences while being isolated to relax. The pool outside brings everything to an 11. Enjoying the warmth with the cold outside while gazing at the stars, just what the doctor ordered.Guest review byGenNetherlands - 10.0

We didn't have much time to spend here, however, just spending a couple of days at the hotel and walking around the area would be wonderful. It's a beautiful hotel and area to sit around and relax or soak in the hot tub admiring the amazing views. The museum and some restaurants were closed when I went in March. There is definitely more to do in the summer months.Guest review byMarieUnited States - 8.0
My stay at the guesthouse was a bit of a mixed bag.
My stay at the guesthouse was a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the self-check-in process was a breeze, and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of cleanliness and the spaciousness of my room. The facilities, including the WiFi and kitchen, were top-notch, and I had no complaints on that front. However, there were a few quirks that left me feeling a bit unsure. The surrounding farm was somewhat peculiar, but I must admit that I'm not exactly an expert on farming, and I didn't book this place for its agricultural charm. The absence of any human interaction with the host was a tad disconcerting. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, and a friendly welcome or some local insights would have been appreciated. One noteworthy detail was the water quality, which had a distinct sulfur smell. While this might be normal for the area, it would have been helpful if the host had mentioned it beforehand. In summary, the guesthouse had fantastic facilities, but the lack of host interaction and the peculiar farm surroundings left me with mixed feelings. Plus, a heads-up about the unique water scent would have been a considerate touch. However, all in all, good to very good value for the money.Guest review byThomas - 10.0

In our opinion as a family with found Akureyri to be a more enjoyable city and atmosphere than Reykjavík. Has a very positive vibe and the whale watching was an experience of a lifetime. I would recommend at least two days probably three if you are doing a tour of Iceland. Potentially I would recommend flying here and driving clockwise on route one to Reykjavík.Guest review byXenstone
