- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,788 reviewsA big thumbs up for the very helpful staff of Hotel Laxa. When we were about to check out, we clumsily drove our car into a pile of snow accumulated in the hotel car park overnight and got stuck there. A few hotel guests around lent us a hand but still could not pull our car out. Fionn at the Front Desk came to assistance immediately upon our request. It was certainly some strenuous work he did to free our car from the thick snow. And he's our hero. Thanks also to another lady at the Front Desk who was very helpful. It's a pity that we did not know her name. All in all, it was a great stay at Hotel Laxá. It's clean, cosy and at a good location in the Myvatn area.Guest review byKAM MEIHong Kong
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 694 reviewsWe thoroughly loved the amazing view of the lava fields, which are just behind the property’s rooms. The pantry, just next to our room, is open 24 hours, which is very convenient, as coffee and tea is available. Breakfast was provided and the selection was not too bad. The room is cozy and relaxing and parking is just right in front of our room. The lady at the reception was very polite and explained to us in detail regarding our check in and the pantry’s location. Such nice service!Guest review byMaySingapore

The guesthouse is lovely, the kitchen is huge and room was basic but still felt very cosy. We saw the northern lights perfectly, what a great location! There was also 2 farm dogs running around, who were so friendly and cute! The free breakfast in the morning was amazing as well. This is probably our favourite guest stay in Iceland! Highly recommend!Guest review byAmyNew Zealand

The cottage was super clean, spacious, and comfortable, especially the beds. Wish we could stay there longer! It's one of the best places in Iceland we have stayed at and it's super close to all sights you'd like to visit at Myvatn. We'll definitely come back! :) xGuest review byVictoria AlexeevaIreland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,491 reviewsJust one night stay but it was great: the place itself with big common kitchen, the room, the bathrooms, super helpful host, and...the location: nearby volcano, beautiful lake, cave with hot springs(the Game of Thrones) and the phenomental geothermal area...WOW :)Guest review byKaJawDawPoland

The hot tub facility and steam room gets extra brownie points. The reception had multiple choice for entertainment(Dart boards, books, billiards).Guest review bySubramaniamUnited Kingdom

They made me an early breakfast package due to my early departure. There's a grocery store, gas station, and fish n chips place nearby.Guest review byRogerUnited States

We visited all the famous sites
We visited all the famous sites The Thermal baths was great. A big area (and currently expanding). The restaurant there was very reasonably priced for Iceland. They made a great coffee. Food was good. Went to the geothermal site which was pretty amazing. We hiked up Hverfjall, theextinct volcano which was interesting. Went to Dentifoss and Selfoss which were very impressive We enjoyed our stay. Well worth a visitGuest review byLawsonAustralia - 10.0

I’m 2/3 of circumnavigating Iceland, and I have to say that this area is the weirdest landscape yet—in a good way. In a small area there are extinct volcanoes, steaming hillsides, lakes with strange lava 'islands', ethereal mountains…….. so strange. So beautiful. Highly recommended.Guest review byThorCanada - 10.0

Spent a day and a half in the Lake Mývatn area. Loved it.
Spent a day and a half in the Lake Mývatn area. Loved it. There is so much to see and do: crater hikes, thermal baths, geothermal areas, bird watching, lava features. And just overall, it has beautiful views of farms and countryside. Both relaxing and exciting. Could easily spent another couple of days without it feeling repetitive.Guest review byMarkUnited States - 8.0
Nice getaway - quiet and cozy athmosphere.
Nice getaway - quiet and cozy athmosphere. Close to the main attractions at Myvatn. Great breakfast buffet. Restaurant offers little choices but what they have is good and homemade (f.ex lamb and trouts are home-breed).Guest review byAllanDenmark
