- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,788 reviewsA big thumbs up for the very helpful staff of Hotel Laxa. When we were about to check out, we clumsily drove our car into a pile of snow accumulated in the hotel car park overnight and got stuck there. A few hotel guests around lent us a hand but still could not pull our car out. Fionn at the Front Desk came to assistance immediately upon our request. It was certainly some strenuous work he did to free our car from the thick snow. And he's our hero. Thanks also to another lady at the Front Desk who was very helpful. It's a pity that we did not know her name. All in all, it was a great stay at Hotel Laxá. It's clean, cosy and at a good location in the Myvatn area.Guest review byKAM MEIHong Kong
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 694 reviewsGreat place to hunt for northern lights. Cosy room, although very small. Super hot radiators, which in winter saved our life :). Although the breakfast is in the village, there was a common room opposite our building where there were tables and all necessary kitchen facilities to prepare your own meal or something hot to drink. Very well equipped. We came late at night, the reception was closed, but the room key was left for us plus directions to the room. Breakfast in the village restaurant very nice. The place is right behind the post office (google maps show you a route round the whole village, don't know why).Guest review byDOROTAPoland
- From £291.06 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 2,083 reviewsThe location was amazing, close to Husavik, right next to lake Mývatn, close to local spa, near amazing restaurants and quite close from the famous Godafoss waterfall. The staff were very nice and helpful, coming from the Czech republic we were surprised there very plenty of Czech people working there. The room was perfect, very spacious and modern, beds comfy and bathroom was great, too. The view was great as well. Definitely recommended!Guest review byPetr HodonskýCzech Republic

The guesthouse is lovely, the kitchen is huge and room was basic but still felt very cosy. We saw the northern lights perfectly, what a great location! There was also 2 farm dogs running around, who were so friendly and cute! The free breakfast in the morning was amazing as well. This is probably our favourite guest stay in Iceland! Highly recommend!Guest review byAmyNew Zealand

The cottage was super clean, spacious, and comfortable, especially the beds. Wish we could stay there longer! It's one of the best places in Iceland we have stayed at and it's super close to all sights you'd like to visit at Myvatn. We'll definitely come back! :) xGuest review byVictoria AlexeevaIreland

We wished if we would have booked more than 1 night! The breakfast was really good with many options and you could also see their cows directly from the restaurant area.. Don't miss to pet the calves, they are very cute! 🐮Guest review byZsofiaHungary

We visited all the famous sites
We visited all the famous sites The Thermal baths was great. A big area (and currently expanding). The restaurant there was very reasonably priced for Iceland. They made a great coffee. Food was good. Went to the geothermal site which was pretty amazing. We hiked up Hverfjall, theextinct volcano which was interesting. Went to Dentifoss and Selfoss which were very impressive We enjoyed our stay. Well worth a visitGuest review byLawsonAustralia - 10.0

I’m 2/3 of circumnavigating Iceland, and I have to say that this area is the weirdest landscape yet—in a good way. In a small area there are extinct volcanoes, steaming hillsides, lakes with strange lava 'islands', ethereal mountains…….. so strange. So beautiful. Highly recommended.Guest review byThorCanada - 10.0

Spent a day and a half in the Lake Mývatn area. Loved it.
Spent a day and a half in the Lake Mývatn area. Loved it. There is so much to see and do: crater hikes, thermal baths, geothermal areas, bird watching, lava features. And just overall, it has beautiful views of farms and countryside. Both relaxing and exciting. Could easily spent another couple of days without it feeling repetitive.Guest review byMarkUnited States - 8.0
Nice getaway - quiet and cozy athmosphere.
Nice getaway - quiet and cozy athmosphere. Close to the main attractions at Myvatn. Great breakfast buffet. Restaurant offers little choices but what they have is good and homemade (f.ex lamb and trouts are home-breed).Guest review byAllanDenmark
