The bright lights, the sounds smells of Siliguri left behind when we entered the oldest tea estate - Chumpta. We felt transported. The quiet, warm glow of Mayfair was just what we needed. Polished marble floors, the fragrance of dhoop in the lobby. We were soaking it all in whilst Pradeep handled a bigger family. The antique clocks, quirky weighing machine/ balance.Checkered floors, statues adorning the corridor, beautifully upholstered furniture, a wall to wall fabric coated elevator.PS: May be they forgot to do the welcome experience. Our Stay: We had booked for the attic rooms. The room had twin beds(probably they may have run out of double beds) and the most interesting part was the bathroom had a fan. A lot of thought had been put into designing this room with the right amenities including a chair to sit whilst the rain shower did it’s job. Housekeeping had done a thorough clean to ensure that we had a great stay. Housekeeping as always very discreet service, however we knew they were there constantly cleaning finger or foot prints.Tea Pot: Most enthusiastic team of Sahil, Suraj, Laxman and our server for the evening Sathya ( the gentleman from Orissa) were fabulous. The food was another level tasty and almost like home. The chefs are extremely skilled and talented to be so thoughtful despite of being used to quantity cooking.A box office: I found this extremely delightful. Thought we did not use this. A small 14-20 seater theatre armed with lazy boys and a small screen to keep the couch potatoes entertained. Hridaya the security on rounds insisted I watch the other half of the movie, I was tempted however it would have kept me away from the new happening bar that they had just opened by the pool side.Dont miss the Vintage Car in the Bar. Chef was right. There was miles of food till the eye could see. Each tastier than the other. Mani our driver who dropped us to the airport knew all the in roads which got us to the airport in less than half an hour.

Kolkata, a city that promises rich history and culture,...

Kolkata, a city that promises rich history and culture, sadly falls short in the most basic aspects of civic life. The streets are perpetually littered with trash, and the stench of garbage hangs heavy in the air. Extreme traffic which seem unnecessary. The humidity is suffocating, making every step feel like a chore. What's equally disappointing is the behaviour of the locals. Rudeness seems to be a default trait, with people often displaying a blatant disregard for courtesy. From vendors to pedestrians, there's a palpable lack of civility that's jarring. While Kolkata has its cultural gems, the overall experience is marred by its filth and the unpleasant demeanor of its people. Unless the city addresses these fundamental issues, it will struggle to attract visitors who crave a more pleasant and respectful environment. *Not recommended* for those who value cleanliness and basic human decency.

Kolkata is very fantastic place and we see the glimps of our historical culture. It reminds us our past and culture is still here that we have lost in other cities. It's best city to make visit for our kids. In Delhi and other cities we couldn't find our rituals and customs but here I have seen those things ,we have somewhere forgotten but here everything came back to us .I like most Kolkata city if I get chance to visit my kids again I'll come. Meusium, Victoria palace, new market for shopping,South City mall, everywhere we can eat because good food is available in very cheap onething is that in Kolkata no one can sleep hungry. I'm very happy to write such comments for Kolkata.

Kurseong is a hidden Gem, it's a must place for mountain lovers. Its just an hour drive from Bagdogra airport. The climate is awesome, sun rises pretty early , the scene of sun rising is so picturesque. By afternoon 1.30 2.00pm , when generally all other hill stations are burning up in summer Kurseong starts cooling down and it's nice by 3.00. People of Kurseong are warm, helping and the local food although simple but delicious. I would love to settle down in such a place. Since Darjeeling the queen of hills is cramped and packed during seasons , One should visit this place which is very close to Darjeeling. Numerous option of Home stays are available at kurseong. We sat in the toy train which gives a joy ride from Darjeeling to Ghum and Back it was a worthless ride as lots of structures have come up close to the train so the joyride isn't picturesque although they are improving the quality of the train but u can see more of cars running here and there then the mountains and valleys so u can avoid this ride and save on money.

    Toiletries were inadequate .

Toiletries were inadequate . Bedsheet should not be torn in places, in this aspect management should not turn a blind eye, which they did inspite of being reminded. Wi fi is good. But TV is just a show because only Free to air channels are available. General Cleanliness of the room was good. Geyser works. Breakfast Menu especially on a Sunday Morning is an embarassment compared to what is printed on the MENU and what is available on the on the table or as room service. Staff behaviour is good . The management has to get rid of their take it or leave it policy and overcome their short coming mentioned above.

Lovely place steeped in history of the colonial time.

Lovely place steeped in history of the colonial time. I would recommend people going upto Darjeeling to spend a day or two in Kurseong as well instead of just stopping by the place for a meal. This busy but quite town provides an insight into city life in the hills along with providing you with the tranquility and majestic view of the kanchenjunga. If the history of Subhas Bose House arrest in Sarat Bose House at Gidda Pahar village in Kurseong beckons you then it's for you. If you like to go on leisurely afternoon walks and gorge on some delicious chicken cutlets at the Kurseong tourist lodge, some pork momos and pork rice bowl at 33 Dreams Cafe while ending the day at Eagle's Crag sunset suits you, this city is for you. If you love to see a steam engine toy train whizz past you as you dine at a colonial cafe de central restaurant in the heritage railway station then this place for you. Other than that there are some small waterfalls, iconic British era churches and iconic mountain viewpoints and tea gardens like Makaibari, and don't miss the giant Hanuman statue overlooking the hills at I love Kurseong view point and the haunting dense forest of dowhill. Please have the different varieties of pork sausages, muffins and tea at Margaret's Deck
