- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 535 reviewsBoth Kevin and Rose and their teams were very friendly, efficient and helpful. Breakfasts superb. We had lunch on the Terrace, and dinner in the Wilde ,and very much enjoyed both. The person who cleaned our room did a great job, and the valet was exceptional, taking us to Ashford Castle for dinner, and to the boat trip etc as well as parking and retrieving our car. Very quick to spot things. He was superb.Check-in was great. We arrived about 4pm on 19 March.Best Eggs Bene ever for breakfast ! Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights; warm and friendly atmosphere.Lovely food. Great service. We thoroughly enjoyed our treat to ourselves! Lunch on the patio was so relaxing! Great service and food there. Recommend the boat trip. All very relaxing. Check in was efficient and pleasant.Guest review byCaroleNew Zealand

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!Guest review byRobertUnited States - 10.0
Great little town, friendly and welcoming.
Great little town, friendly and welcoming. Lots of history, beautiful park and marked walk around the town. Free parking with plenty of space. Grocery store, butchers coffee shops, gas station, selection of great pubs and souvenir shops amongst others in the high street. Super little place.Guest review byLorraineCanada - 10.0
Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks.
Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks. This was a self catering cottage . We loved making our own meals. There was a lovely little bakery where we bought a selection of breads, all very yummy. We found a couple of nice cafes in Cong, not too far from Clonbur that served delicious coffee and scones. There is an easy walk from Chonbur to Cong.Guest review byCollette - 8.0

It was a fabulous location if you like to be in the countryside but with a car no roblem travelling to different locations within 30 minutes and a fabulous Chinese in headford I think it’s called jade garden the red one on the left anywayGuest review byTracyIreland - 8.0
Initially looking for a place near Galway.
Initially looking for a place near Galway. The website seemed to suggest that the accommodation was within a reasonable distance. It took us another 40 mins to get there after passing through Galway, so somewhat disappointed. Nothing at the accommodation within walking distance apart from stunning views and very warm, friendly hosts. The nearest places for dinner were Moycullen or Oughterad. We went to the latter, a 20+ minute drive through narrow country lanes… well aren’t they all? Lovely meal at the Powers Thatch. Friendly, welcoming people. All in all, missed out on Galway but had a very relaxing evening back at the accommodation watching the sun set. Beautiful.Guest review byTiger 32Australia - 10.0

Beautiful village and even during off peak season the scenery and entertainment was top notch. Fans of The Quiet Man need this little village on their to-do list. We visit every year at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times with different friendsGuest review byursulaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Hasn’t changed since childhood holidays 48 years ago! People still very friendly and welcoming. Love the quick wit and sense of humour. Great village-style choice of pubs, food shopping, restaurants and gift shops. Sense of a real and supportive community. Everyone flexible and willing to help. Easy access from village to multiple sports and beautiful views.Guest review byAnderleyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A beautiful , well-kept little village with so much to explore on foot. The Abbey is free to visit and there are several river and woodland walks leading from it. Lots of wildlife to be seen, herons, ducks and even a leaping salmon! Lydons was a great place to stay and to eat in. We only stayed one night but will definitely go back to explore some more.Guest review bymicheleIreland - 10.0
