FAQs about hotels on Santorini
A Greek Island Dream
Imagine a typical Greek island with whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and sloping cliffs, and the chances are that you’re thinking of Santorini. Protectively curving around 4 other islands in its archipelago, this volcanic island has fertile ground bringing forth lovely rosé wine and some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes you’ll ever taste.
High on a caldera shelving into the sea, the capital Fira overlooks the cruise liners plying the turquoise Aegean waters below. North is Imerovigli, home to several 5-star Santorini hotels with fantastic views.
Also providing amazing views is the accommodation in Oia across the bay. Cascading down the slopes, the sea of white here is only dispersed by vibrant pink flowers, blue domes and the brown of ancient windmills, all becoming black silhouettes as the sun sets.
Santorini Airport is on the other side of the island and 2 resorts south of it – Kamari and Perissa – have the best, black sand beaches. However, the most visually impressive is Red Beach at Akrotiri where the stunning red colour of the caldera and sand makes the trek down the rockface well worth it. Just time it right to avoid high tide! Also near Akrotiri are excavations of a Minoan era settlement.

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality by the friendly and professional staff and spechally mrs fotina. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and I was impressed with the cleanliness and elegance of the hotel and common areas. The room itself was nothing short of stunning (room 33), with modern decor and comfortable furnishings that made me feel immediately at home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches such as the complimentary bottled water and the welcome drink they have provide us' even they upgrade my reservation Throughout my stay, I had the pleasure of dining in the hotel's restaurant, which offered a diverse and delicious menu of locally-sourced cuisine. The impeccable service from the attentive and knowledgeable staff truly made each meal a memorable experience. What truly set this hotel apart, however, was the exceptional attention to detail and personalized service. From the thoughtful notes left by housekeeping to the helpful recommendations from the concierge, every interaction felt warm and genuine. - From US$974.40 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 284 reviewsEverything! From the moment we arrived we were blown away. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The whatsapp service is brilliant and staff would always respond immediately and help with any queries we had. Nothing we asked for was too much. We stayed in a junior suite with private pool and it was stunning. The room itself was gorgeous and clean and the views are out of this world. The pool was the perfect temperature. We spent 2 nights watching the sunset from our day bed, drinking wine with room service for dinner. There really is no need to leave the room at all! Sunsets in Santorini are unbeatable. Food was amazing. Breakfast is included and there is lots to choose from. We tried everything but the scrambled eggs was my favourite. Cocktails also very good. They took a while to make but the quality and taste made it worth it. The staff were great! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. We get married next year and are yet to decide where to go on our honeymoon. This trip is going to be very very hard to beat!Guest review byJonesUnited Kingdom

Also they provided us with towels and let us use the the pool - all that before even we got the room. Staff: AMAZING! Fira is a great place to stay in Santorini if you don’t have a car and it’s very central. From Fira you can get the local buses at a very cheap price to move around the Island and go to Oia and the beaches, it also has a cable car that you can go with it down to the old port of Fira. Fira has lots of shops, cafes and restaurants and great views with beautiful sunset. Hotels are more affordable to get than Oia.Guest review byReyhanehUganda - 10.0
The hotel is a 5-minute drive from Oia.
The hotel is a 5-minute drive from Oia. We only ate out for dinner. On the first night, we had dinner in our room (they have a menu from a nearby restaurant with various types of meals). On the following two nights, we went to Meze Meze (recommended by Sofia) and on the last night we went to KooKoo. Both restaurants were very good. We went on a catamaran tour (recommended and booked by Sofia). We took the tour to watch the sunset. We visited the island with ease as we had a car. We went wine tasting (again recommended by Sofia). We visited the island's key spots—Fira, watched the sunset in Oia, visited the heart of Santorini, and visited several beaches.Guest review byAnaSanchesPortugal - 8.0

Kamari is probably one of the only area to have beach access. BUT you need special shoes otherwise it will be a nightmare. The black sand is also deadly hot so shoes are a must. Some beach clubs like Woodoo are super nice.Guest review byOlivierFrance - 2.0
It’s an expensive town.
It’s an expensive town. Beach is difficult - all bars and restaurants offer ‘free sunloungers’ to customers but then you must spend at least €20pp in the restaurant- and are persistent on reminding you to spend the money. There is VERY difficult sea access all along the beach - slippery flat rock for quite a while - so getting in and out of the sea was somewhat challenging. And large waves. And it was boiling hot - not great. I wouldn’t consider returning ever!Guest review bynoname12380United Kingdom - 10.0
It was so nice to stay here.
It was so nice to stay here. Away from the crowds of Thira and Oia. Lovely little village with fabulous restaurants. Easy to get the bus into Fira 2 euros. Equally you can walk it in 30 minutes down a lovely coastal path.Guest review byhelenUnited Kingdom - 10.0
This was our second time staying in the village.
This was our second time staying in the village. Very convenient for getting around not too far to walk to Fira. We don’t like crows so prefer to stay outside of the main tourist areas this is just far enough away from the capital. Plenty of places to eat in the village a few shops and bus stop just at the top of the main road.Guest review byCerieUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Akrotiri is a beautiful town.
Akrotiri is a beautiful town. I definitely recommend visiting the Akrotiri archaeological site, but the entrance fee of 20 euros is honestly way too expensive. The White Beach and Red Beach are nice, but not really our thing because they’re overcrowded. We preferred finding some quieter beaches insteadGuest review byMilosCzech Republic - 10.0

Quiet little town located quite high up on the island so the views are just awesome. It's also super central and close to everything. We hired a quad for the 4 days in Santorini, this was such a good idea as it was so easy to get around the island.Guest review byThibautAustralia - 10.0

Best location in Santorini you can get just in the the heart right in between Thira and Imerovigli - 10-15mins walk in both directions. Beautiful and relaxing town with everything you could ask for and still without the noise from clubs until late night like in Thira! Firostefani simply is a must to pick!Guest review byMrMajklIreland - 2.0

the location is not what it seams, it is just between the main road and other construction sites or empty fields, with no nice view. Overrated prices on booking.com compared with the reception prices or any other nice hotels even in Oia.Guest review byralucaRomania
