FAQs about hotels in Scotland
A Rugged Jewel
With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!
The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.
The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.
The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.
As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

- From £129 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,048 reviewsIn my view, with Drimsynie, Lochgoilhead is the best wee village in the World (I live in Greece, which has some cracking wee villages, and I have travelled a fair bit)! Drimsynie is an excellent place to go to for a long weekend or a longer holiday, with or without kids. Adults and kids of all ages will love it! There is so much to do and the staff are always willing to help! The surrounding scenery is breathtaking and whether you are golfing, walking, or sailing, you cannot help but be taking in by the majestic scene that is Lochgoil / Lochgoilhead, and the surrounding hills. As a holiday destination, Drimsynie is an ideal place for both active and relaxing holidays! We stayed in the hotel this time but I have also stayed in one of the lodges, and I would recommend both! This is a gem of a hotel and holiday destination!!Guest review byHarveyGreece
- From £690 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,187 reviewsMy son Max and I had a magical stay at The Balmoral. The staff were just wonderful. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay extra special for Max (age 9). Our trip to Edinburgh was a special treat because he's a huge Harry Potter fan. He absolutely loved Edinburgh and all it's Potter lore but the stay in the Balmoral was by far the highlight of his trip because of how kind everyone was to us (as well as it being a beautiful luxurious hotel of course).Guest review byAnnieIreland

What a magical city.
What a magical city. Calton Hill, Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Old City are must see for first timers. We loved the ghost tour in the evening, it was excellent. We stayed near the Portobello beach, enjoyed it tremendously, especially breakfasts in a local café with an ocean view. Can't wait to go back!Guest review byNataUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Amazing how Glasgow has turned around from its grimy industrial past into the liberal cultural place of today. Nearby was the Tenement House museum and also the Royal Scots Fusileers museum apart from the night life of Succihal St Exelent public for exploring further afield.Guest review byKeithUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Amazing and beautiful city with lots to see and explore in the central area. From architecture to libraries - there is a lot to see if you're into cultural exploration. Love the place and definitely recommend it.Guest review byYanko ChurovBulgaria - 10.0
The beach is long and clean.
The beach is long and clean. There is a lot of construction work ongoing at the ice rink and swimming pool. It will be very good. Amustments and funfair open at 10. Ideal for the kids. The City is great for walking with nice parks with mostly clean streets. Of course it has its not so nice parts where the junkies hang about, every major city or town has them. Art gallery and museums worth a visit. loads of eating places.Guest review byBrian StarkUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Catching the Jacobite train was the highlight of our trip although Fort William nestled under Ben Nevis was stunning! The loch cruise was informative and fun. All in all I wish we had stayed longer to have taken in some of the local hiking trails… next time!Guest review byScillyBirdUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We were using Oban to access the Cal Mac ferry to Lismore, as my partner's dad is buried there. Everything went very smoothly and we had a nice sailing there and back. We enjoyed a couple of excellent meals at the Waterfront Sea Food Restaurant and ES-USK Seafood Restaurant. Enjoyed an evening of live music and a few drinks in The Oban Inn. Finished the trip off by visiting McCaig's Tower, with excellent views over the town, sea, and surrounding Islands.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0
