Our experience at The Garrison in Fort William was nothing short of exceptional. The suite exuded warmth and luxury, with a cozy and welcoming ambiance that instantly made us feel at home. The interior design was impeccable, deserving of a five-star rating. One standout feature was the well-equipped kitchen, complete with a smart TV. After a long road trip, being able to unwind on the comfortable couch while enjoying complementary coffee/tea and tea cake was a delightful treat. It provided the perfect opportunity to relax and rejuvenate before continuing our adventures. The location of The Garrison was also perfect for our family. The staff were some of the most friendly, attentive, and welcoming people we met!! We stayed 2 nights, but if we could have spent the whole holiday there we would have. Cannot say enough positive things about the chef and her food, she pours her heart and soul into it and it is AMAZING. Highly, highly, highly recommend to anyone considering staying here to do it!!! You will not regret it.

The rooms were so chic, clean, and comfortable. It totally exceeded my expectations! The location was perfect--right next to the train station where I needed to be at 6 am. What's even better? The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, but what truly gave our stay its soul was William. From the moment he checked us in, to serving us lunch, recommending outstanding wines – and only later discovering that he happens to be an exceptional sommelier – he impressed us at every turn. Long after dinner service, he was still there preparing everything for the next day, always with a smile and genuine warmth. His dedication and energy transformed our stay into something truly special.

Great little hotel! We got stranded in the highlands and had to book last minute. Stuart was wonderful and went out of his way to help us out and he gave us great dinner/live music/activity recommendations. The room was clean, well kept and comfortable. Mallaig is a small port town with an interesting history. The Mallaig Historical Centre is worth a visit to learn about the story and people behind the town. There are quite a few fabulous cafes and restaurants specialising in fresh fish and home baking. There is a lot of Harry Potter tourists due to the train and viaduct, but this does not distract too much from the enjoyment of a visit.

The super helpful staff made us feel very welcome. They had the knack of knowing when we needed help. we always felt the staff had time for us - as it should be, There is no lift and as 'older', to put it mildly, visitors, the climb to our room on the third floor was a bit like climbing Ben Nevis and the descent was even more difficult with our dodgy knees. We had chosen a sea view room and it turned out these are on the higher floors. The staff could not have been more helpful, short of carrying us up and down on their backs, and made sure we knew they would carry things up and down for us.

Overall the house was fine but pity about state of property next door - quite offputting when first arriving. House relatively clean but could have been better. Rooms were a good size. Two adults felt the mattresses should be replaced. It would not take much TLC to lift the property - e.g. some painting, fixing gutter, improve back garden, fix bathroom tap, better cutlery, more informed Visitor pack. Overall, think it is best suited for climbers, walkers.
