FAQs about hotels on Isle of Man
Mystical and Enchanting
Steeped in Celtic history and myth, the Isle of Man is famous for its tailless cat and the TT motorbike race. The start line is in the capital Douglas, overlooked by hills. At its port arrive ferries from Ireland and England, and the town houses all Isle of Man hotels with swimming pools on Booking.com.
On the headland around the bay, Onchan has pretty cottages and glens, and Laxey to the north has a quaint harbour and the world’s largest working waterwheel. It is by the foothills of Snaefell mountain, as is coastal Ramsey, while Andreas is surrounded by sweeping fields.
More nature is in Tynwald Park & Arboretum near St Johns. The castle in nearby Peel was supposedly built by giants and is inhabited by a dog ghost. Santon has another Isle of Man legend - you must acknowledge the residents of the Fairy Bridge or beware!
Ballasalla is near Isle of Man Airport where there is a statue of the island’s 3-legged symbol. Neighbouring Castletown, with its pretty harbour and medieval castle, plays host to one of the more bizarre events – tin-bath racing.
By the south-western tip, Port Erin has a sandy beach protected by cliffs. Similarly to most other resorts, it offers Isle of Man hotels with parking, making it easy to explore by car.

- From £86.63 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 681 reviewsGreat location, we paid extra for a seaview room and it was lovely. Really warm welcome and easy check-in. Lovely big room with everything we needed, the bed was very comfortable, we slept very well after a busy day travelling around the island. We paid for breakfast and it was well worth it, plenty to choose from. The Edelweiss is not the most modern place and is in need of a few improvements but it is excellent value for money and we would definitely book to stay again in the future.Guest review byJillUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 182 reviewsGreat location, with a view to the water across the road. Proper kitchen with all the facilities; good sized refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher...and, and a WASHING MACHINE. Travellers can dream of a washing machine. Clotheshorse too and the clothes dried well hung on it. Airport bus number 2 from the airport stops almost outside. Unfortunately the return one doesn't, but it's only a flat 350 metres walk to it, so not too far.Guest review byJulieAustralia

Public transport in the area is highly affordable, with services operating regularly and punctually. Staff are courteous and willing to provide helpful advice on local attractions and dining options. Dining Recommendations The Fig and Live on the Strand offers excellent Mediterranean cuisine in a welcoming setting. Capone’s Diner serves classic diner fare at very reasonable prices. For a day trip, visitors may take the bus to Laxey, an ideal destination for an afternoon excursion. Highlights include a scenic walk through the glen, followed by the opportunity to sample local ale at the historic Mines Pub.Guest review byHenryUnited Kingdom - 8.0

There isn't much to do in Ramsey in winter apart from a good choice of pubs but plenty of nice walks. Bus service to anywhere on the island is great we did a circular trip on three buses which took up most of one day stopping off in Peel and Douglas for a while.Guest review byWilkinsonUnited Kingdom - 8.0

A good place to explore other areas, public transport is good and allowed us to get about to visit Douglas etc. Port Erin has some lovely community activities going on such as a live band on the beach and young musicians. Port Erin is clean and has a nice chilled vibe.Guest review byLisaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I have visited the IOM since 2007 and have visited/stayed in Castletown on a number of occasions.A quiet picture postcard place .I would reccomend a visit to the Castle Lovely local shops bars restaurants /cafes. Castletown is the home to The Southern 100 motorcycle races in early July for 5 days each year .so best to avoid if not your interest 🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍 If you're planning a trip to the IOM Castletown is a great base point after arriving on the ferry in Douglas . Great location with easy links to explore the whole island from a quiet base. Loads of walking trails and history on your doorstep. Easy bus and MER links. About 4 miles from Snaefell. Friendly and helpful locals willing to help if they can. Must see the Great Laxey Wheel. We thought it was fantastic. Stayed on the IOM for 4 days and used the clean, frequent and punctual buses to get around.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Everything you need.
Everything you need. Supermarket, a couple of pubs, a few local shops, lovely steam railway line and station that you can get all the way to Douglas. Also a fantastic sandy beach, ideal for swimming in the summer or winter walks.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The IOM in general is a great destination.
The IOM in general is a great destination. Maughold is a quiet rural location so your local amenities are a drive or bus ride away. Enough pubs and restaurants in general, and lots of cafes, but transport is a must, be it private or public. There are many walking routes and trails on the island, and plenty of attractions for all. These could prove quite expensive so a search for family discount or multi-visit discounts would be beneficial. There are enough decent beaches to keep a family with kids happy, but don't expect theme park style fairground rides. Things are a little more low-key and tasteful. The IOM is a very picturesque island and well worth a visit.Guest review byacer1United Kingdom - 10.0

Douglas is not big but it is a nice place to go shopping with a variety of shops to chose from. The Manx Museum in Douglas is a must visit place full of interesting artefacts and information. A tour of the Gaiety Theatre may not be for everyone but it is a very interesting visit. On a nice day take a ride on the horse drawn tram. The horses are well loved and looked after. Travel from Douglas is easy - even if you do not have a car. Various forms of transport can add fun to a visit to Isle of Man. Steam trains to Port Erin, electric trams to Laxey and Ramsey. The mountain railway from Laxey to Snaefell takes you past the great Laxey Wheel.Guest review byDanUnited Kingdom
