The location is great and the hotel is clean and tastefully decorated. The staff were all wonderful and helpful. The food was far above my expectations. The dinner was very tasty and elegantly presented and the breakfast was out of this world. They often multiple choices to please everyone. I had the smoked poached halibut with poached eggs. It was spectacular. Thank you to the staff for such great service and kindness

A lovely little village in the Borders area with good eating options and lots of interesting sights in the area including Melrose Abbey, the Eildon Hills, Wallace Monument, Dryburgh Abbey and a great bookshop and cafe in nearby St Boswell. Kelso is an interesting town in its own right . Plenty of interesting shops , bars , and a square to add to the overall attraction . The Cream Chimneys cafe on the square is first class with interesting innovative dishes and advertises live music on weekend evenings . You would need to make a reservation for this . Nearby Floors Castle is worth a visit , and you can walk along the river which is easy to get to . Kelso would be a good base from which to visit other Border towns . There is plenty of streetside parking .

Our day there coincided with shops day off. But not many shops there anyway. We watched the cyclists on Tour of Britain cycling through and had a coffee. We returned to the hotel and visited the Bar for refreshment and a chat to both staff and customers. We had a really enjoyable dinner in the dining room, which has lots of Coldstream Guards memorabilia, all of which was interesting.

A really nice town, lovely square and some interesting shops (although many don't open Monday as well as Sunday). Loch Carron Weavers on an industrial estate well worth a visit to see the tartans. Many Abbeys and stately homes, and nice riverside spots, within easy reach, and mountain areas to the west.
