The Picturesque Land of Lavender and Pastis
With lavender meadows and limestone soils covered with garrigue, the beautiful Provence smells of herbs, flowers and warm mistral winds. This vast French region spreads along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea from the wetlands of Camarque to the peaks of the Maritime Alps.
Famous for its cuisine, picturesque villages and the weather, Provence is one of France’s most popular holiday destinations. People come here to relax under the stunning blue skies and enjoy a slower life pace over a glass of pastis or local wine.
But don’t be mistaken, Provence is as much about the bustling cities as it is about its quiet countryside. Make sure you pay a visit the 2nd largest French city, Marseille, the forever glamorous Cannes or the popular resort of Nice. All of them offer plenty of sightseeing attractions, cultural events and fine dining venues.
For a breath of art and history, stop in Arles, a town full of Roman remains and Van Gogh’s famous artistic inspiration, or Avignon, best known for the stunning Gothic Palace of the Popes - the seat for Western Christianity during the 14th century.

- From £2,178.99 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 136 reviewsHands down and by far the most TO DETAIL stay we have ever experienced during our world travel. This hotel exceeded the expectations from the second we arrived to the valet parking area, to the reception (just at sunset time :)), to the perks (basket, hat, pajamas,treats...) provided as welcome gifts, to the aroma of the whole property. to the tasteful and beautiful decor. The food was great at the restaurant and the view from our secluded table for dinner was super romantic. Personnel and their attire is immaculate. The Laduree ice creams by the pool, the spa, gym,...the knowledgeable Concierge monsieur was super kind and helpful. This place is sooo romantic. It is costly yes, but the go above and beyond to please guests and provide a unique experience,....which lasts to the second we left. On departure they gave us Laduree macaroons for the road, water, wet towels and even personalized with initial luggage letter tags!!!! just amazing....we will recommend to all those romantics looking for the most upscale and pampering experience.....congratulations to the master minds of this hotel !! location is so beautiful and sunsets are glorious to feel the provenzal wind. xoxoGuest review byJOHNUnited States
- From £946.53 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 320 reviewsOur room was very large, comfortable and tastefully decorated using high quality materials. Everything inside the buildings of the hotel complex emanated a rich yet discrete atmosphere of comfort. No bling-bling here! The sauna/pool area was very welcoming and spotlessly clean. Outside, there are many walks and cycle tracks to explore vineyards, forests and the open countryside. The personell were friendly and helpful.Guest review byJeffreyFrance

We visited in July during the French Theater festival.
We visited in July during the French Theater festival. It was a little too busy for our liking, but if you like French theater, it's a great time to be there. We took a tour of the Pope's palace, which is amazing and well worth visiting. We also did a half day tour of the lavender fields, which are about an hour away. Probably a full day tour would have been better. Good walking city overall.Guest review byCharlesUnited States - 10.0

A large historic city centre with hundreds of small individual shops and restaurants. The squares are a wonderful place to eat at night and you should not miss the food markets on a Saturday. Very helpful and pleasant staff in the shops and restaurants and a very beautiful city. Access is easy by train from Marsallie or other towns in the south France; you don't need a car. Best to eat away from the main street as it's netter value and the food in thr local bakeries is amazing. I'd especially recommend Boulangerie Hats Aix Espiariat for breakfast and lunchGuest review byJeffUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Arles is a very nice City.
Arles is a very nice City. Plenty to see - antiquities and art. The Luma project was particularly good. Lots of good restaurants. Best time to visit is late August/September. A good base to travel around the area and see other sites/towns etc. Highly recommended.Guest review byNigelUnited Kingdom - 4.0

We Didn’t like Toulon. Large, busy place. The main town wasn’t nice and not somewhere I would want to walk around. Beaches were very average - dusty shingle rather than sand. I wouldn’t return or recommend. We included the visit in a stopover.Guest review bySarahUnited Kingdom - 10.0

there are no 5star hotel groups there.. no Mario's or sheratons or Hiltons ? wonder why ?? the hotels are overpriced for the value we get. But the city is lovely and a very nice place to visit. Ie. the Breakfast place where we stay - the older generation with old mentality are Races and Rude, but the new younger generation are very nice and polite. I thin the older ones have their pains in the Ass..s to worryGuest review byRajuHong Kong - 10.0

Hyeres is beautiful like with a touch of Saint Tropez but way more peaceful. The people are nice and kind-very helpful. There are so many beach to chooce from. The transfortation is efficient enough. My favorite spot is the Port Saint Pierre- where you can dine by the port. I stayed in Ibis Budget hotel which is very close to the city center. Also the weather is nice.Guest review byMarvinPhilippines - 10.0

I drove down from the Marne valley and this was as far as I wanted to drive in one day! Orange is a delightful little town with Roman theatre the main attraction, but I used it as a base to visit Mont Ventoux (Tom Simpson memorial), Avignon, Arles, Camargue and Pont du Gard - all easily reached by car. Quieter than the main Provence towns but with nice restaurants and cafes so was very happy with it as a base for 3 days. Favourite lunch spot was the Brasserie du Mule du Pape in Chateauneuf du Pape.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom
