First time ever in Fayoum and we thrilled by the hospitality and the generosity of the staff! Ramadan literally blew our minds away with his kindness. He made sure we had the best time. Got us dinner and took us to the lake by toktok at night. I asked him where to wash our clothes, next minute he washed and dried and folded them for us. My heart is full!

We've had a wonderful time in Sunset Camp. Wael was so helpful with us, and we were very happy with the excursions he planned for us. Bassem, the guide he sent us to visit the desert was full of knowledge and so carring with us (helping us to have fair prices when he could have just stay in the car like the other guides). If you want a special experience while staying in Fayoum, you should go through Wael ! Dinner was very local and tasteful, and there is enough to eat for two in one dish. A large campfire is organized at night, and everyone is gathering around to sing and dance, a large group of Egyptians (It was holidays time in Egypt) was there that night, and they made us feel we were part of the family. Tents are simple but it's a fair value for the price. Definitely a place you should step by if you like to go out of the typical tourist tracks

I wanted to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for the wonderful experience we had at the villa by Lake Qaroun over the weekend. Our group of 10 friends had an absolutely fantastic time. The villa was not just a place to stay; it was a home away from home. We were pleasantly surprised to find it so well-equipped; it felt like the owner had thought of everything. From the kitchen essentials to the cozy living spaces, we didn't find ourselves needing anything more. The pool, even in the midst of winter, was invitingly clean, and we couldn't resist taking a dip. The ambiance was exactly as depicted in the photos – serene, tranquil, and overlooking the picturesque lake just steps away. The location was perfect for our group, providing a much-needed break from the city buzz. It was such a warm and welcoming space. It contributed immensely to the joy and relaxation of our weekend. We will certainly cherish the memories made at the villa and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others seeking a peaceful retreat.

This is the perfect place if you are looking for silence, nature, solitude and time to relax off from the city, rush and people. I really really enjoyed my stay of three nights, you will have the nicest and kindest hosts that will take the best care of you to make you feel good and comfortable. The food was delicious and self made by the hosts, and for the days they also offer tours to the surroundings.

If you're looking for a more local experience, this family-run guesthouse with just three super-clean rooms and a garden of swaying sunflowers outside is perfect. It's peaceful, friendly and - major added bonus - there's an actual kettle in your room (a rarity in Egypt).

We loved our stay at this beautiful villa, which is located in a wonderful green space hugged by palm trees, olive trees and a jasmine. You feel at home as you get in, with a super comfy bed, nice kitchen and super clean property overall. You can sit on the nice roof too to observe the stars and the sky. Ashraf is a great host and very easy to communicate with and always a phone call away. He recommends places to visit and happily organised a day trip for us with a very short notice. The breakfast is so fresh and can tell made with love and Ashraf was very flexible in providing it in an early time for us. We are very grateful indeed and highly recommend this place and the host. I also recommend the restaurant which the host recommends as you can have delicious food with really good prices. I also recommend that you must go on a pottery session in the village especially at 'Bait Alfokhar' بيت الفخار and visit 'Zahrat Alotus' زهرة اللوتس art shop where you can find the most beautiful and meaningful paintings. All the best to you all.

We didn't see a lot of the village as we spent our full day at Wadi al Hitan. There were one or two other small hotels. Tunis is particularly renowned for pottery shops and there is the opportunity to try and make your own pottery.

The locarion is perfect at ther edge of the lake and just near the national park. The staff are very friendly. The bathrooms were ALWAYS clean. Breakfast was a real treat. The tents are very comfortable indeed. The price is very reasonable. There is lots of space at the camp and you always have a view of the lake.

Would not recommend this area to other travellers.

Would not recommend this area to other travellers. The village is poorly maintained and the restaurants are very bad quality and overpriced (the exception of this is Al Damashki, which was good price / quality). Also there was a nice fruit stand with delicious fresh fruit. Otherwise would not recommend for tourists, nothing to do there. The lake also is not accessible and the shores not well maintained. A lot of potential in the area, but not used at least for now. Also, would hope they take better care of the stray animals in this area, to sterilize and vaccinate them and provide basic food and water.

The hotel is exceptional, staff is so helpful, rooms are so spacious and very well designed. It’s so relaxing and worth the travel from Cairo. The only thing that needs enhancements is the Egyptian part of the food menu that needs more variety, also the restaurant prices are extremely high and must be reviewed.

Attractive, quiet village with one long main street containing lots of outlets making and selling pottery. Nice, relaxed atmosphere, good for strolling around. Well placed for exploring the area. Good range of accommodation in much better settings than those set along the main road beside the lake. Fair-priced taxi to Cairo airport takes two and a half hours. Restaurants ask you to order dinner the day before - no short-cuts with microwaves. Quality varies. Ask around.
