we only stay for one night but we will definitely come back. The place is amazing, especially the garden and the beach facilities. even though is close to the city center, it was very quiet by night. the breakfast was very tasty (you have plenty of choice between 5 or 6 menus). the staff is very friendly and helpful, always ordering taxis for the guests. the view of the restaurant is great, especially at sunset with a nice mojito

If you're looking for a paradise in seclusion, you've come to the right place. The hotel is owner-operated, is located in the middle of the cloud forest, has a pool, offers fantastically good massages and has a phenomenal view of the sea and the surrounding landscape. A restaurant serving freshly prepared Ecuadorian cuisine rounds out the offerings. The staff speaks mostly only Spanish, but thanks to Google Translate and hands and feet, it can all be managed.

It's just too crowded and the air is very polluted.

It's just too crowded and the air is very polluted. If you like big city life then you'll like Salinas. But if you want a place where you can just relax on the beach, this is not that place. Beaches are VERY crowded, lots of background noise. Honestly the air pollution here is horrible for a peninsula. It smells like Newark, New Jersey.

I like visiting Montanita but wouldn't want to stay much longer than 4-5 days. Thee's not enough to do--unless you are in love with the beach! There are excellent food options and the Tia tienda provides options for cooking on your own. The beach is SUPERB!

This is not a lux resort but quite adequate for my needs. Clean, safe, small variety (But plenty unless you are maybe staying longer than a couple of weeks) of good restaurants though many do not open until early evening. Love the uncrowded beach.

The location was ideal, offering a lovely view and a very welcoming atmosphere. It had everything we needed – a nice garden, a jacuzzi, and direct beach access – so we rarely had to go out, except to pick up a few essentials. The host was extremely helpful throughout our stay.

It's a great Hotel with amazing ocean views from the balconies. The owners and staff are very diligent and helpful. We were doing a tour of various ports-of-call on this part of Ecuador's playa and were extremely pleased with the quiet and safety of Manglaralto. And if you want more to do the interesting little city of Montanita is just a short taxi ride away. This was our best stay on a very pleasing visit to each of the places we experienced in Dec. 2022.

Even though the address of El Faro is technically Salinas, it's really about 8 miles from the city center, and my only excursions into town were for dinner. I had no complaints about the quality of the food, which is generally excellent, but Salinas itself has very little charm, since it's more of a beach community for people from Guayaquil. If I return to the area, I will make a point of heading further north on the coast, to slightly more remote, quiet places (NOT Montañitas).

It is amazing beach and surf town on the Ecuador coast.

It is amazing beach and surf town on the Ecuador coast. Frankly I can’t get enough, with festive atmosphere, restaurants and artists, great sandy beaches with popular surf breaks. Trips and trails inland and spectacular wildlife from pelicans and many various birds to iguanas and a herd of cattle that wander through town and the beach. A colorful and unique experience for any adventurers.

I didn't see anything of interest here. Beach is very mediocre. Trust me skip this city and try somewhere else. I went to Manta and it was much better. i didn't find Manta to be overly exciting but it was much nicer than Salinas. I thought the Salinas was not nice at all- no nice buildings, no fancy restaurants etc.

Very pleasant small town with lots of good restaurants, places to stay and a vibrant nightlife, not to mention a lovely long beach with decent surf, so what's not to like? Can be noisy on the main streets, but isn't that what many come for in the first place? Prices are on the high side at restaurants but there are some excellent options. There is even a wine store with some decent options.
