- From £212.09 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 55 reviewsEverything about Hacienda Cusin far exceeded our expectations! Before even arriving, we inquired into something special to do for our friend visiting from far away. They provided a complimentary (and beautiful) flower arrangement with our message on a card...our friend was extremely surprised and moved by the gesture. In addition to this, the grounds are amazing...we spent hours exploring the old monastery, beautifully cared for organic gardens, library, artifacts in every room and paths around the property. It was like staying at a museum, unfolding the many stories of this property's past and cultural insights into the area. The staff were super friendly, Melisa greeted us with a historical walk around the grounds and welcome drink, everyone was very accommodating to our dog, and always with a smile. We stumbled upon the gardens and Louis (head gardener on the property for 30 years) gave us a private walk through them, allowing us to smell and learn about the abundance of herbs and vegetables cultivated at Hacienda Cusin. When the fireplaces on the property and in rooms are lit at 7pm, we were able to enjoy the comfy, warm ambiance while sipping a cocktail and chatting with friends. The breakfast was outstanding and plentiful to help us start the day. We were not able to have lunch or dinner on site and truly regret missing out! Hacienda Cusin was more than a place to stay for the evening, it was an experience that we will never forget. We are already planning to bring our parents in a few months and would hands down recommend this location to anyone looking for a memorable trip to Otavalo!Guest review byDanaUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 100 reviewsAuthentic, beautiful old hacienda, set in delightful sloping grounds, with views to mountains either side. We had probably the best room, no 7. Lovely public rooms. Very helpful staff. Nice vibe. Excellent location. We had 4 nights and could have managed a fifth. The rim walk around the crater lake Cuicocha was one of the best day hikes in our life 10/10 wow. 5 hours solid walking. Horse riding and Condor centre also good - 8/10. Otavalo market OK 7/10 and worth going to on a Saturday but. Food was so good we didn’t bother to eat in Octavalo.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom
- From £125.59 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 269 reviewsThe location is super fun with water sports and mini golf. We loved canoeing together as a family and jumping off the platform into the lake. There was a nice hang-out for those who didn't want to get in the water and they still felt part of the fun ordering drinks and food. We loved that they let us stay after check out to enjoy the property longer. Such a beautiful location and fun cabin feel while having all the comforts of home.Guest review byDaphneUnited States

Cozy and vibrant town with various options for leisure. Surrounded by volcanoes. Loved the craft market, food, landscape, beautiful people. locals are proud of their rich culture and heritage. Performances on the streets, coconut icecream, decent coffee. Spent 2 days in Otavalo though wouldn't mind to stay for few days longer.Guest review byAsselKazakhstan - 10.0

Ibarra is a beautiful, safe, small city with a perfect climate.. never too hot or cold. They have beautiful parks and architecture in the centre and a big park with skating facilities on the edge of the centre. If I could find an apartment here, I'd stay for a couple of months without hesitation. There's a beautiful big lake nearby and you're only one hour from Otavalo and just over 2 hours to Quito, and only 2 hours from the Colombian borderGuest review byDeborahUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Big ex-pat community.
Big ex-pat community. Lots of English speakers and North American amenities. Lots of outdoor activities but be aware of and prepared for the altitude. Walking around cotacachi was very easy and fun to walk through neighborhoods. The local bus station has busses coming and going constantly so easy to get to neighboring communities.Guest review byBrendaCanada - 10.0

An ideal size city, big enough to have a lot going on, but small enough to be easy to get around on foot and feel safe even out in the streets at night. So many great places to eat, and of course the crafts markets including the Plaza de Ponchos (but be sure to check out the other markets more off the tourist track) are amazing. Outside the city, the surrounding villages and attractions such as the Peguche waterfalls are worth the time to go see.Guest review byRichard - 10.0
Ibarra is beautiful, small, friendly, tranquil
Ibarra is beautiful, small, friendly, tranquil I love the proximity to outstanding nature whilst you can get anything you need done here. Doctor, dentist, tailor, beauty treatments, etc. Mercado Amazonas has anything you may need or want, from amazing fresh food, to cooked traditional foods, to consultations with local herbalists, to bedding, clothes, wellie boots... I had a broken, very large tent zip replaced here, it was a massive problem as it rendered my tent useless, it cost only $11 and was done the same day!!! It’s easy to get around, taxi anywhere in Ibarra is $1.25 and $1.50 at night. Great connection from here to pretty much anywhere, on the bus, including Colombia.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Cute town. Had everything and more that you need. I didn’t realize how touristy it was actually. Lots of activities nearby, in nature especially. Make sure to eat early as the town shuts down around 7 pm in general.Guest review byTaraeJapan - 10.0

We took a bus from Quito to Otavalo and then used taxis to get around very cheaply. The highlights were visiting Parque Condor (so many birds of prey to view in large cages, all rescued, including two condors), a ride on a boat (30 min) at Cuicocha National Park (its a crater lake created by a volcano), and of course shopping at the Otavalo Market (so many beautiful handmade items to purchase).Guest review byCarolynUnited States - 10.0

Cotacachi is such a beautiful city, the streets are all clean, and the people is nice and helpful. The views are all beautiful, specially in Cuicocha lagoon that really close to the city. There are also lots of restaurants and beautiful leather handcrafted stuff.Guest review byRicardo
