FAQs about hotels in Black Forest
A Forest Full of Surprises
A mysterious mountain range in south-western Germany, the Black Forest evokes images of wild, dark forests and quiet paths with hidden castles and ruins. In fact, this is a very vibrant region with popular wine routes, roaring waterfalls and charming little towns, always full of things to see and do.
However, the biggest kick comes from the Black Forest’s nature and landscape -of its densely forested mountain peaks, Feldberg is the highest at 1,493 metres and the birthplace of the Danube River. Follow its hiking footpaths to see the Titisee and Schluchsee lakes, the most famous German waterfalls of the Triberg and the popular River Wutach gorge.
The region is famous for its crafts, particularly the precision clock making and wood crafting, both coming together in the art of cuckoo clocks, symbolic of the entire Black Forest. There are not as famous as a certain delicacy though: the renowned Black Forest cake, a delicious combination of chocolate, sour cherries, Kirch brandy and cream. An absolute must-try!
From Freiburg to Baden-Baden, from Freudenstadt to Gengenbach, and from 5 star hotels to charming guest houses built in the local style, Booking.com has plenty accommodation on offer for your Black Forest trip.

- From £254.55 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 875 reviewsGreat hotel! We stayed here for 3 nights in a Superior Double Room with Lake View and Balcony for about 1275 euros and we were extremely pleased. The hotel is very central, and the building is beautiful and charming. It’s one of the main buildings in Titisee and it’s very well kept, and the gardens are also beautiful. We pleased to note that parking was easy. They give clear instructions on how to find the parking lot and there are plenty of parking spots, and wide enough. You can also come and go as you want (we left our car parked the whole time, though). The staff is super friendly and between our beginner-level German and some members of the staff who spoke English, there were zero communication problems. Our room was wonderful. Lots of space, nice big wardrobe with many real hangers and clean and spacious bathroom. The view was wonderful and definitely worth it, and the balcony was also nice. The pillows that were there when we arrived were very thin and soft, but after we requested firmer ones, we had 4 wonderful pillows in total. The breakfast buffet was amazing as well. We also had dinner one night at the hotel, and although the prices are a bit steep, the quality is there and the staff, once again, was top notch. We also loved, loved, loved all the flowers at the hotel, especially all the lovely anthuriums at the restaurant and some common areas. The direct access to the lake was what we were mainly looking for and we were not disappointed. Also, the indoor and outdoor swimming pools are wonderful (and the water is not cold! the lake water can be freezing). You can also have a light meal and freshly squeezed fruit juices by the pool, which we really enjoyed. Overall, we had a great time and we are definitely coming back. Highly recommended!Guest review byAndréFrance
- From £388.43 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 271 reviewsA true 5 star hotel: From the first class (and friendly) check-in to the quality of every fixture and fitting, this is a really impressive hotel. I particularly liked the gym facilities. A huge range of high end equipment, and there was a separate room to use for yoga/ personal exercise (when not used for classes), the pool was lovely with many places to sit or lounge by. The restaurant was beautiful. The food was healthy and inventive, the wine selection impressive. Every member of staff I met was helpful and friendly .Guest review byTheaUnited Kingdom

Small town but a lovely get away!
Small town but a lovely get away! Two main spas were a good experience-- appears all the tourists go there. Food is lovely, lots of places to walk around in. Great town to either walk or cycle around. Good hikes around the town. I went in May, nice and quiet, not too many tourists. Highly recommend the casino- absolutely beautiful!Guest review byJeannieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Titisee-Neustadt is a charming town with a lot to offer.
Titisee-Neustadt is a charming town with a lot to offer. The lake is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing stroll, and the town center is full of character, with lovely little shops, cozy restaurants, and plenty of ice cream stands. It’s a great place for a peaceful getaway and to enjoy the Black Forest atmosphere. However, one unpleasant experience during our visit was dinner at Musse am See – Bio Asia Dining. We were a group of 3 adults and 4 children, and we ordered at 8:20 PM. The service was extremely slow and disorganized: The first dish (for one child) arrived at 8:50 PM. Two more dishes (for adults) came at 9:05 PM. The remaining four meals (for one adult and three children) didn’t arrive until 9:20 PM. A simple Sprite took over 15 minutes, and only arrived after my friend went to the counter to ask about it. The staff seemed unaware until she pointed it out. To make matters worse, the waiter spilled the Sprite onto one of the children’s meals, which completely ruined it—and the child didn’t eat after that. I love Asian food, but this was by far the most disappointing experience I’ve had at an Asian restaurant. It was a real letdown in an otherwise lovely town.Guest review byDonnahSwitzerland - 8.0

We had a wonderful time exploring Germany's largest town square, with its arcades, shops and other attractions. There were also open-air concerts taking place in the Kurhaus event location. It's also a great base to explore the southern Black Forest from. Freudenstadt will also be co-hosting the state garden show in 2025 (together with the neighbouring town of Baiersbronn) and so we plan to return!Guest review byKenGermany - 10.0
