- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 102 reviewsThis place is amazing! Lovely large bungalows with good mosquito nets, table and chairs and a great ensuite bathroom, complete with drying rack and a big fan. The outdoor terrace is beautiful and a perfect place to enjoy breakfast, which is served every morning 7.30-9.30am. The breakfast is fruit, toast, coffee and tea and changes everyday which is fab. The property is in its own little jungle with hummingbirds, toucans, macaws, geckos, lizards to name a few we saw! It's very quiet and yet right next door to a bus stop which takes you either to Manzanillo or all the way to Limon. The beach is less than a ten minute walk away and it is stunning! We went here everyday and watched the sunrise - perfect! There is also a really good restaurant called El Refugio just up the road which serves Argentinian food and cocktails in a very cool jungle setting. The hosts were incredible! Louis went above and beyond his duty of care. He was there to greet us, take our bags and give us a warm welcome. He enquired after us everyday and gave us the best recommendations, like the restaurant, Cahuita National Park and knew where to send us to book a dolphin trip round the bay of Manzanillo. The dolphin trip was amazing do it if you can! Louis also offered bikes for hire, booking taxis and even dropped us off for our 5am bus! Louis and his wife showed us so much nature and were just the best, I cannot recommend staying here enough, loads to do and the perfect hosts! We were sad to leave!Guest review byMeganUnited Kingdom

Our hotel, Arrecife Punta Uva, was right on the beach and very conveniently close to a restaurant. There were plenty of seating areas and hammocks provided, which made it easy to relax. One of the highlights was a beautiful viewpoint on a cliff about a 10-minute walk away—definitely worth the short hike. The food at the restaurant was also quite good.Guest review bySaraUnited States - 10.0
We loved our beach cabin stay in Manzanillo!
We loved our beach cabin stay in Manzanillo! We ate meals on the front porch surrounded by the beautiful garden, listening to the rolling waves of the ocean. The beach is just across the street, and the nature reserve is a five minute walk away at the end of the street. There is also a good Caribbean restaurant at the other end of the street, also just a five minute walk from the cabin. Our host was very friendly and attentive. It’s a quiet, authentic beach town, and much less touristy than Puerto Viejo. We plan to stay there again.Guest review byLauraUnited States - 8.0

Picture perfect beach with a restaurant that hosted live music in the evenings. It was beautiful with a nice atmosphere. However parking was very crowded with the only free parking be on a narrow and very busy road.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Manzanillo is lovely.
Manzanillo is lovely. The reef is regenerating so snorkelling good we did a boat trip to go snorkelling more and I saw a blue spotted eagle ray! Absolutely the best snorkelling in the area particularly near the entrance of the National Park. We had a kayak into the jungle which was lovely. We did a night hike which was quite an experience!. Manzanillo is quiet at night. The people are great! We rented bikes from Chile Verde where we stayed and cycled to the Ava project preserving Great Green Macaws. We also culex to Punt Uva. We also walked there on the beach. Manzanillo is great! We are at maxis and another cafe at the end of the road. We also had dinner at Colores with live music. Great food and service.Guest review byMaggieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

If you made it until the Caribbean part of Costa Rica don’t miss out on this place! So friendly people, such a stunning place to walk around, explore and maybe plan to visit again for prolonged periods or even to retire at? (That certainly is if you like small, really small places and don’t need the buzz and facilities of “real towns, which aren’t that far away anyway)Guest review byHans-UweSpain
