Beds were comfortable and rooms were spacious, there was housekeeping every day. The restaurant was closed while we were visiting, but breakfast was served each morning and the bar was open for delicious cocktails until late. Sadly we were only there for one night, passing through, but it was really lovely. Big room, comfy beds with mosquito nets, good shower. You really feel like you're in the jungle. I saw two toucans in the morning, which was a definite bucket list animal for me. Really near the playa negra which is a beautiful beach. Costa Rica, for those who prefer nature as a concept not to be endured too long, and with minimal discomfort. I can't speak to other parts of the country but the Caribbean coast is not a place for real travelers. Go to Honduras or Guatemala instead.Guest review bySeanCanada - 6.0

Cahuita is a hidden gem.
Cahuita is a hidden gem. It’s a small, quiet peaceful place to stay that is near to Puerto Viejo, but without the noise. The beaches and wildlife were wonderful, and we loved visiting Cahuita National Park. There is a bus stop in Cahuita which goes to Puerta Viejo. We loved eating at many of the local restaurants.
