Wow, what a place! Surrounded by vineyards. Our room was huge and beautiful. King size bed and 6 plush pillows…we had our best night sleep on our entire trip. Customer service was first-class (complimentary wine on check-in, bags carried for you, and they made us a surprise cake for my girlfriends birthday). Amenities were all fantastic (pools, spa, steam room and sauna).

Service was outstanding - welcoming charming door man who took our cases up, reception staff and restaurant staff were all excellent polite and friendly. It is hard to describe how fantastic Amalinas Hotel was for our family of four for an entire week. We rented a car (a must) from Salta Airport and were at the hotel in 30 minutes. Traffic is calm and we felt safe to drive there. We arrived late but that was no problem, Isaïas welcomed us with a warm smile and showed us our rooms. The hotel feels more like a large guest house which meant we did not feel it necessary to lock our doors most of the time (the front door locks). There are only a dozen or so rooms. Their restaurant was temporarily closed because they were looking for a new chef, but when we ordered some food we were met with a fully decked dining table, such a nice gesture. The breakfast buffet is quite good with all the basics including local bread ‘buns’ and some thin sweetened ‘croissants’. All the staff is welcoming, helpful and hard-working. The rooms are quite new and have all the amenities and even a nice balcony. They are also kept incredibly clean. The internet is working, but do not expect constant strong signal in this part of the country. The hotel is located in nature, with no nearby other houses but small supermarkets are located nearby, also a very professional laundrette. In the morning, we were woken up gently by the wildlife around us and splendid views. It is only 15m from Salta city centre with all amenities. Want to go horseback riding? Ask the reception for details, we had a wonderful time riding the surrounding areas. Thank you to the staff at the hotel for making us feel so welcome, your flexibility and kindness.

Altalaluna Hotel Boutique & Spa
This is the best hotel we have been to in Argentina, the place is just wonderful and the employees are very nice! The location is beautiful, surrounded by vineyards, the hotel's architecture is stunning (it looks like a Spanish "masia" or a countryside house in Italy's Tuscany). When we arrived they gave us a room in the first floor and asked for a room in the floor above to have better views, they did all they could to change our room free of charge. They also offered a free wine-tasting, so we had the chance to try all of their wines with some cheese platters (white, red, rose, from the cheaper end to the very expensive end) with a professional sommelier. The hotel offers some activities (we did a horseback-riding excursion). In the evening the garden and the terrace are full of people enjoying some nice wine, the atmosphere is really magical. A lot of people ignore the area of Cafayate (and head to Mendoza instead), that is a big mistake, not only do I think that Cafayate wine is nicer but the area is beautiful. I strongly recommend staying here!

Miraluna Bodega Boutique
Beautifully designed cabins amongst the vines. It was wonderful to meet our host, Keko. A generous kindred creative spirit. He really helped to make our trip memorable. The property is 8km from Cachi, so not so easy to get to bars and restaurants (it’s an unsurfaced road), but Keko helped us to organise a food delivery - the best Tortilla I have ever eaten! We also had a fascinating tour of the Bodega - the highest vineyard in the world. The small production wines are wonderful, and we shared a bottle of the sublime Tata Dios with another family.
