I have travelled all over the world using Booking.com, including many boutique-type hotels. It is rare that a hotel exceeds my expectations in every respect. This one did. This hotel is a relatively new, well-situated hotel in the heart of the old town, Cartagena. We asked for a quiet room, and received one. The only disadvantage with the room was that windows did not look out on anything and that they were sealed, but the room was relatively quiet in a very noisy city. To have a balcony room with openable windows means a lot of noise at night in Cartagena. We preferred to sleep! The room we had was equipped with a comfortable king-size bed, lots of room and a very good bathroom, complete with a large shower and a Japanese toilet (which is relatively rare in my experience). We initially had some difficulty with the TV, but staff rectified the problem quickly. The AC worked well and the room is equipped with a ceiling fan if one prefers to use it- we used both. The design of the hotel, including the finishes, demonstrates a well-thought out, professional team was involved. I was particularly impressed by the overall design of the common areas of the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The pool on level 4 is small but adequate for cooling down in a hot city. The hotel offers massage services. The companion hotel (Hotel Boutique Casona del Colegio) is available for meals and has a larger pool; it is located only 150 metres away, which is very convenient. For the cost, this hotel is a very good choice, allowing one to walk all over the old town and neighboring areas. Assuming that the hotel maintains its service standards and keeps its facilities in good condition, this is a hotel that I recommend without reservation.

Casona de Colegio in Cartagena de Indias provides accommodation with a garden a terrace, an infinity pool and a bar. - Good comprehensive breakfast (e.g. a la carte breakfast plus hot and cold drinks; toast with tropical jams; cold cuts and cheese, etc.) - safe entry with staff opening the door or keeping it locked in a touristy area - room had many luxuries like blackout curtains and VERY comfy sheets; very high tech room - refreshing pool and comfy loungers with a rooftop view of the city - welcome cocktails // drinks and bag service from the very helpful staff

Je to pěkný hotel, s vynikající služby. Byli jsme na Silvestr a byl dobře organizovaný. Jídlo a Silvestrovský program byl perfektní.

We went with our dog and was welcomed.

We had an unforgettable 3-night stay in Cartagena, and one of the highlights was celebrating New Year’s Eve with our incredible host, Ofrey, and his lovely family. They welcomed us with open arms, making us feel right at home in a truly special way. Sharing in their warmth and joy made the experience even more memorable. We also appreciated the authenticity of the neighborhood, which gave us a real sense of local life. It was vibrant, safe, and full of character. The nearby food options were fantastic—we enjoyed everything from fresh local seafood to delicious street food, and every meal was an adventure in itself. If you’re looking for a stay where you’ll feel like part of the community while being surrounded by great food and wonderful people, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!
