Acropolis

Long before it became known as Bloomfield Falls, this magnificent waterfall was called Wujal Wujal by the indigenous Kuku Yalanji people. Hire a guide and learn why these people still consider Wujal Wujal to be sacred. Or just head down with your 4x4 and a picnic hamper, and have lunch in serious style!

Very expensive for something that takes 5 mins to look around. Beautiful ancient building but a bit disappointed by the lack of the usual museum things: expositions, artefacts, hey even some shelter from the sun would be great.

    Coming early is key.

Coming early is key. I visited in March (winter season) and by 10 am, there was already a crowd inside of the Acropolis, at the only path to the Parthenon. Fortunately the crowd was not large, but I'd say it was a bit large for this time of the year. As for the toilets, they are outside of the sight, and once you leave the sight, there's no re-entering it with the same ticket. So make sure to go to the toilet before entering the sight.

This is one of if not the best hotel I’ve stayed in! What makes it truly amazing are the facilities, you feel like you’re in your own little village in the middle of the nature when you’re actually 30min away from Athens city centre (should you wish to visit the acropolis and other historical sites). The view never gets boring and the staff were always very nice and helpful!

The hotel was kinda basic but we knew that was the case. But it was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location however was great. Right in the heart of a lively area of Athens. Really cool bars and restaurants a-plenty all around and very near to the vibrant flea market. And above all a short walk to the Acropolis, which we could clearly see from our small balcony.

The apartment is brand new, very comfy and clean, perfect for visiting Athens (about 10 min walking distance from la Plaka and 15 minutes from Acropolis, the area is full of services, a 24/7 mini market is only a few steps far from the apartment)

The apartment is in an excellent location, very close to the most important sights. It is decorated with a lot of attention to every detail. We had a huge terrace on two levels with lots of plants and a wonderful view of the city and the Acropolis. A real oasis of peace in the strict center of Athens. Lucy is very friendly and professional, as are the rest of the staff. We really enjoyed ourselves and hope to come again.

10/10 experience! Maria was absolutely amazing—so welcoming, helpful, and attentive throughout our stay. Her apartment was stunning, spacious, and had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The highlight has to be the balcony: the view of the Acropolis is breathtaking and truly unforgettable. Every detail, from the modern amenities to the elegant design, made our time in Athens extra special. I can’t recommend this place enough—Maria made our trip perfect!

Lovely boutique hotel, well located for touring Athens. Hotel parking option was great. We parked the car and walked everywhere! We were welcomed with a delicious cold drink, and by charming staff. The atmosphere us polished and very professional. The breakfast was the best we had in Greece!! And the rooftop bar/ restaurant was fabulous with a gorgeous view of the Acropolis. Our rooms were spacious, nicely furnished with lovely bathrooms. We had no view as we were on lower floors, but there are rooms with a view available.

Go beyond the Acropolis and explore the Agora and Kerameikos, imagining yourself entering Athens along the road from the port of Piraeus, and following the Panathenaic Way to the Akropolis. Stop at the museums along the way to understand the significance of each site. Then visit the National Archaeological Museum to see that classical Athens is just one of Greece's many magnificent cultures.

If you want to avoid crowds while seeing the famous sights, start out early and be at the sights when they open. I arrived at the Acropolis around 8:10 AM and there were only around 20 people on the whole compound. It was wonderful! There was a crowd climbing the hill when I descended, though!

  • Consider visiting Athens in May or September.

Consider visiting Athens in May or September. May is just lovely. Spring flowers like poppies and daisies cover the hills. It's not too busy and not too hot. Remember that on holidays you are always moving so consider the weather when you make your plans. Also, research opening hours as the Acropolis is closed May 1; and other Ancient Landmarks are closed on certain days and on certain hours any other day.
