We Australian/ Ecuadorian couple who have, between us, visited some 100 countries and speak three languages: English, Italian and Spanish. Travellers at heart feel that we know what other travellers need, want and expect. Self-confessed clean freaks, we want you to feel relaxed and comfortable in a clean environment and with many of the ‘extras’ that you’d have in your own home. Lovers of life, people and culture, we are not always in the same place for a long time … and are often travelling ourselves! We do, however, have very strong ties to Quito, which we come back and visit often. Whilst you can most certainly contact us at any time, we have left this gorgeous third-floor apartment with sweeping views of the Andes, in the very capable hands of our co-host, who also speaks Portuguese.

Centrally located, the neighbourhood of La Floresta is both traditional as well as bohemian. Filmmakers, actors, painters, writers and musicians share this tranquil, safe and vibrant space with many other professionals. Foreigners and university students abound due to the five universities in the area. Whilst gastronomy is one of this sector’s specialities, there is also a supermarket and Friday fruit and veggie market within 100 metres of the apartment. The renowned Pobre Diablo bar is next door. Not to be missed are the excellent cafes. As avid and ‘serious’ coffee drinkers, we can highly recommend both cafes Botanica and Jervis which offer a drop as good as we’d get in Melbourne ... infamous for its cafe culture! La Floresta has many places of cultural interest, art galleries, handicraft stores, independent cinemas, theatres and bookstores. The zone is also a place for sports and entertainment. The Ruminahui Coliseum is located here, which acts as both a sports and training centre and an entertainment venue.
