Since the 2003 inauguration, heritage and history have merged to create a constantly evolving designer haven called the XVA Art Hotel. The inspired owner, Mona Hauser, has create 14 unique and individual guest rooms which showcase architectural and cultural motifs of the region. Within an internationally acclaimed art gallery, the hotel also boasts an award-winning restaurant. The hotel is located in the heart of the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, the oldest community in Dubai. Unique for its Persian architectural heritage, the mystery of its traditional maze-like alleyways and proximity to the Creek, Al Fahidi is viewed as one of the most important heritage sites in Dubai. XVA occupies the former home of the Seddiqi family.
The public areas consisting of three courtyards, which are air-conditioned in the summer months, are tree-shaded and tranquil, offering quiet corners for poets, artists and visitors alike. Many of the works on display, including those by resident artist, Halim Al Karim, provide an insight into the art of the Middle East for which XVA Gallery is known.
With its three original wind towers, a sumptuous lounge and starry rooftop for the solace-seeking
Mona Hauser is the owner of XVA Art Hotel, Gallery and Cafe. Born in the USA, she has cultivated a lifelong interest in art and design. A graduate of Washington State University with a combined degree in art and chemistry, she worked as a scientific glassblower in Washington for seven years. She lived between New York and Florida from 1986 to
1993 before moving to Dubai and England in 1993 to 2003.
Mona opened XVA in 2003 to fill a void in Dubai. She envisioned XVA as a universe that matched her own mindset; a place where people could come and spend the day, even sleep over. Inspired by the tradition of the old salons, she set out to create an art-oriented salon; a forum for artists in Dubai.
Since 2003, XVA, continues to raise the profile its artists and the historical Al Fahidi Neighborhood in Dubai through a rich cultural program. XVA organized the first CREEK CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR. Renamed AL BASTAKIYA ART FAIR in 2008 to 2010. BAF became SIKKA Art Fair in 2011. XVA Gallery has participated in numerous International Art Fairs including Art Basel Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi Art.
We are located in the heart of Al Fahidi Neighbourhood and surrounded by museums, creek and art. From XVA you can either walk or cycle to all the tourist places in Bur Dubai, Shindagha and Deira.
