My boyfriend and I stayed at Tropicana Hotel for 6 nights, and this is the best decision we have made in our 3 week trip to Sri Lanka. I've never felt so welcome as we did at this hotel, it felt like Jazz and his family opened their home for us. The accommodation is top quality (10/10), however the best part was the warm and good people at the hotel. We even got invited to a home made Sri Lankan dinner, very wholesome and soo good curry! The accommodation is close to city center but the rooms are quiet and withdrawn. Its located right next to the beach and also a super market, which is run by the family. Jazz also organized surf lessons, a safari tour, and affordable transport to the next part of our journey. Absolutely worth a visit :) Thank you Jazz and family!

Beautifully decorated hotel, with one of the most gorgeous bathrooms I have ever seen. Comfortable bed. Very nice staff and boat safari. Good breakfast and dinner. Peaceful and secluded, with all the amenities necessary. Nice pool overlooking the lake + smaller pool.

Wonderful property and host! Iqbal and his staff were so warm and welcoming! They went above and beyond making sure I felt comfortable and enjoyed my stay! I was welcomed with delicious pineapple juice and a pastry. I ended extending my stay because it was such a warm and cozy place to spend a few days at the beach. Beach access is a few meters away. Iqbal also arranged surf lessons to peanut farm and I couldn’t recommend them enough! Best surf coach I’ve ever had! The room was very clean and spacious with hangers for wet clothes and storage. The hammocks outside each room are a very nice touch and relaxing. Each morning, the breakfast was very good and tasty! Lots of fresh fruit! Whatever you need, Iqbal and his team will take care of. Had a lot of nice chats with Iqbal. He will be missed! Wish I could stay for longer. Will definitely be back to this cozy piece of paradise.

Loved the garden and the breakfast. It’s freshly made, every morning something different and super delicious. Very short walk to the beach. The host is so nice. He would be able to plan safari for you, a trip to the jungle with the motorbike, surf lessons, …. Would come back for sure 🩵

A Wonderful Stay with Exceptional Service We had a fantastic stay at Aqua Blue Hotel in Arugam Bay. The hospitality was outstanding, particularly Basheer, who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. He made sure we had everything we needed and went above and beyond to assist us with any requests. Our room was spotless and comfortable, equipped with air conditioning, which was a relief after a day in the sun. We also loved the hammock and the very comfy outdoor chairs—perfect for relaxing. The garden looked lovely, adding a peaceful ambiance to the whole place. The breakfast, prepared by the two lovely ladies at the hotel, was absolutely delicious. It was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to start our day. Overall, Aqua Blue Hotel offers great value for money with its clean accommodations, friendly service, and tasty breakfast. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Arugam Bay.

The host was super nice. He arranged all activites for us + the return night bus to Colombo. Ask for the safari because his prices are very competitive! We really felt welcome and at home.

Located very close to the beach but nice and quiet, set in amongst a lovely and well kept garden. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money.

Ubytování se nachází ve skvělé lokalitě a to jen pár minut chůze od pláže a hlavní ulice, přesto v klidném prostředí. Pan majitel byl milý a přátelský, hned při příjezdu nám nabídl možnost dokoupení snídaně a večeře, kterou jsme jednou využili a byli jsme spokojeni.

A peaceful garden paradise near the surf! Vinka’s place is a little piece of quiet garden paradise just a short walk from the surf spot! I loved the peaceful atmosphere, the lush garden, and how comfortable and clean the cabanas were. Vinka was super helpful and kind throughout my stay — always available if I needed anything. Everything was perfect, and I felt totally at home. I’ll definitely come back one day. Highly recommended for surfers and nature lovers alike!

The host is the best guy, very accommodating, happy, lovely, genuine and nothing is ever too much to ask. He helped organise surf boards for us and provided us with many excellent local recommendations. The location is incredible, very close to the beach (where you can also surf) and all the restaurants and shops. The homestay is peaceful and homely with a lovely outdoor area. Breakfast is amazing and different every morning which is really appreciated. He offers food for lunch and dinner which we had and it was delicious and a great opportunity to try genuine local food. He also provides a tuktuk for hire and excellent laundry service for great value. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a large fan. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, it has been the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka and we cannot wait to return to stay here in the future.
