The hotel located right next to Zuishinmon so it’s very easy to hike Mt.Haguro from this location and also close to bus stop as well. The room is traditional Japanese room with futon and also air conditioner. The place has a shared bathroom and washroom. The food was very delicious. I had a very pleasant stay despite it was raining for two days straight. The lady who runs the hotel is also very helpful and kind towards a foreigner like me. Very recommended for people who would like to experience proper Japanese stays.

A lovely and heartwarming place to stay for a winter getaway. The couple that owns this business made us feel like family. Mao and Qu are so kind and welcoming. They treated us like family. They picked us up from the bus station, drove us to a wonderful dinner location (which they recommended), drove us to the ski resort, and helped with all our luggage. I was so happy to meet them and talk with them. The room is just as warm as the owners. The floors are heated and the beds are very comfortable. I wish I could’ve stayed longer.

Daishinbo was truly a special experience, as vegetarians Japan has been difficult at times, but the beautifully presented meals at this wonderful pilgrim lodge were simply amazing. Our room was huge and it felt like a home away from home — would love to return one day!

This is a great pension run by a lovely family. The husband picked us up at the bus station and drove us to the pension and also took us to the slopes in the morning. They gave us a coupon for renting gear and a map explaining the different onsen options around town. Their English is pretty limited, but they are happy to use Google translate. Also, it was not a big deal, but I think it is important for foreign guests to be aware that ski culture in Japan sort of assumes you are eating dinner at your accommodation. We did not know this and did not book dinner at the hotel. Most restaurants in town were fully booked with reservations (although there is a convenience store with good takeaway food), so try to book dinner at the hotel or make a dinner reservation somewhere well in advance. We were very luck and managed to make a reservation at the Mongolian lamb place Kasheru for the second night and that was amazing. But we saw restaurants turning people away repeatedly because everywhere in town was full. Also, the family will not pick you up by car any later that 6:45 pm (perfectly reasonable) and the public ski shuttles don't run on weekdays, so you need to pre-book a taxi if dinner will end later than that (which it probably will since most restaurants open at 6 pm). And there are not a lot of taxis and no Uber. I wish I had realized all of this up front, but that was our own ignorance and our stay was great regardless. Again, this is just the local ski culture and not the hotel's fault. It's just helpful information for future guests.

The staff was very friendly and kind. Facilities are amazing! They have a huge fully-equipped kitchen with gas stoves, free tea, coffee and condiments. The hostel is located in a refurbished school which it looks like to be also a community center, there are other business in the same building; pizza restaurant, cafe, gym etc… never seen any place like it! The hostel walking distance from the station, Lawson, drug store etc… If you want to travel to Ginzan Onsen this is the perfect location and an affordable price.

Lyžařský rezort Zao Hotsprings je 500 metrů daleko. location is very good, right outside the ropeway and chairlifts. ladyboss is super friendly and helpful. i wasnt well and skipped breakfast, she hand grated apples and gave me an energy drink to help my indigestion! I'm really grateful for her help and concern. she also gave us ticket to the public onsen. 😍 thank you so much, we had a wonderful time.

The host cared about us during our 4-night stay, offering advice on food choices and being supportive! He even gave us a watermelon before we checked out! Although it’s not so big as expected, it is carefully designed, a big TV screen, a small kitchen, Netflix, a washing machine.

The man who lives in this house was perhaps the kindest person I have ever met on my travels. The place is very simple, and you get what you pay for. I thought it was pretty comfortable and the room was quite big. For the price, I think it is really good but it is quite an old house and tough to get to. But I was very grateful to the host, he drove me all the way to the station for no charge as I had lost my wallet and he let me sleep in until whenever I wanted. He was a very lovely man and I hope he gets a lot of business!
