Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse & Jungle Trek is set in Bukit Lawang. This homestay offers free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. The accommodation features airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. My partner and I stayed 1 week at the Sumatra Thomas Leaf monkey guesthouse and it is by far the highlight from all of our travels. All of the staff are so friendly and inviting and make you feel like family. They all go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. The accomodation is located just a short walk from town making everything easily accessible. We booked our trek with them also. We did the 2 nights and 3 day trek and were led by knowledgeable guides who customised the trek to our needs. We seen many orangutans, various monkeys, hornbills and other stunning wildlife. We are vegetarian and all the meals were delicious. Best of all the guides are passionate about the health and protection of the jungle and take all ethical measures seriously. We also booked a day trip through them to see the one of the largest flowers in the world. It was an experience that we will not forgot. It was an incredible experience!!! Highly recommend to anyone looking to visit Bukit Lawang.

There is a private bathroom with shower in some units, along with bathrobes, slippers and free toiletries. At the guest house, each unit is fitted with bed linen and towels.

A bicycle rental service is available at the guest house. Robert, the owner is a really nice guy and goes out of his way to accommodate all the guests. The view from our room was amazing, we just wanted to stay in the guesthouse all day every day! Roberts dog Rocky is also the best little companion.

With mountain views, Sumatra Orangutan Discovery Villa is situated in Bukit Lawang and has a restaurant, full-day security, bar, garden, sun terrace and picnic area. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The rooms are fitted with a balcony with garden views and free WiFi. The best part of the property is the staff. Owner, Tyson welcomed me explained everything needed. A young lady working at the cafe (Diza, sorry if I mistaken the name)made me one of the best meals in Indonesia I’ve ever tried. Sweet dog and cat were also welcoming and slept under my room’s door at night. The room was simple but very clean with beautiful garden setting. The location is a little bit out of town, but walkable and very quiet. Tyson also organized a jungle trek for me and that was also very good. We saw 8 orangutans)

Excellent family that made feel as a member of their warm and kind community ❤️ They treated me so kind, they were helpful and took care of me what was really nice. Thank you 😊 Their jungle trekking also was high-quality in service, attention and entertainment. I stayed several weeks instead of a few days, def would like to come back.

All units at the guest house are equipped with a seating area. The guest house provides certain units that include sea views, and every unit has a private bathroom and a desk. The units will provide guests with a wardrobe and a kettle. We loved SeaGate, the owners were wonderful and great fun to be with. They (and the rest of the staff) took great care of us and were very kind. The snorkelling right off the bay in front of our bungalow was spectacular

Set in Bukit Lawang, Sahnan Guest House has a garden, terrace, restaurant, and free WiFi throughout the property. A tour desk can provide information on the area.

At the hotel, every room is fitted with a balcony. At Sahnan Guest House the rooms come with a private bathroom. There was nothing not to love here. The property was clean and well-located, the staff went above and beyond for us by helping us organize rides and activities, the bed was quite comfortable, and the food at the restaurant was tasty and cheap. With the river running by so close, it felt like we were staying at an alpine lodge! The family running the guest house is extremely kind. We couldn’t recommend this place enough. Make sure to bring cash with you, though. As of writing this it’s a cash-only town with the nearest ATM about 7km away.

À la carte and Asian breakfast options with local specialities, fruits and juice are available. At the guest house, the family-friendly restaurant is open for dinner and lunch and serves Indonesian cuisine. Host was super nice and helped us with organising currency exchange, phone card (for internet connection), and drivers to various places. She is very helpful and communicative, you can just ask her about the ideas where to go around if you have some spare time. The cooking is also amazing (we regret not asking about the recipe for fried rice, which is totally worthy of recommendation)! The area was clean and aesthetically pleasing. There is also air conditioning in the rooms. A note for those who think about renting scooters: roads in the area are a bit bumpy and driving is really different from what westerners are used to. From our experience at least, it seems safer to hire drivers.
