The host, Dimmer, went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, included transportation to/from the island, scooter rental etc. He was always available in person and by phone to answer questions. The room was huge with a great big balcony with amazing view, very clean with new furniture. Access to the lake and a great swimming spot. Would definitely stay again!

The balcony looking over the street was also huge. The restaurant was awesome and Bun made THE best gado-gado in the world. As a bonus my bicycle was also allowed to sleep upstairs.

Toba Boi Guesthouse is a tranquil hideaway wrapped in padi fields and village charm, unless you happen to book one of the front-facing rooms. Then it’s a nightly festival. Rooms either face the peaceful rice paddies at the back (cue frogs, breeze, and existential bliss) or overlook Tataring Coffee & Resto, where a live band rocks out every Thursday and Saturday evening until midnight. Yes, the music is loud. No, earplugs won’t save you. But credit where it’s due.. the band slaps. Think less “karaoke horror” and more “why aren’t they famous yet?” A short walk takes you to shops and local eats, and there’s a chill little beach right opposite Tataring for your morning cool-off or evening cooldown. Perfect if you’re into either deep sleeps or deep bass. Choose wisely when booking—or just bring your dancing shoes and call it balance. Shoutout to caretaker Siska, a sweet, smiley lady who checked us in with warmth and a no-fuss attitude. She also shared great tips on where to eat and what to do, local style. Note : Motorbike rental at a discounted rate to guest only! High recommended to round island.

All our needs were met with incredible care and attention including when I got stung by a hornet and she provided some lotion and reassurance. The food was also exceptionally good. Scooter available on site. Property can also arrange transport out of Lake Toba to various destinations. Staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. Clean room is huge with comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom is big. Room has shelving racks and seating area (both indoors and outdoors). Sufficient power socket available on both sides of the bed.

The room is spacious and soooo clean that it was nice to walk barefoot. I would recommend this place to anyone.
