We were in a spacious dorm room with space for baggage and curtains on the bunks for privacy. There was free drip coffee in the morning and we joined a cooking class/social event in the living area which was fun. The host gave some good tips for what to do and helped fill out a baggage forwarding form in Japanese for us.

A 6-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station, 力車イン Rickshaw inn offers non-smoking Japanese rooms and Western rooms with free Wi-Fi, an LCD TV and a private bathroom. A free-use kitchen is on site.

1. It's quite near Takayama Nohi Bus Center - about a 10 minute walk. 2. The property is very new, so everything is clean and in working condition. 3. There's a kitchen with fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle, where you can eat or prepare your food. 4. It's in a nice quiet neighborhood. 5. The owners, Peng and Oscar, went out of their way to make me feel welcome. They were very friendly and genuinely helpful, when I had some special requests. I couldn't have asked for nicer property owners!
