The absolute loveliest stay I’ve had in Japan. What a delight the hosts are - Glenda is an absolute gem and the loveliest. She used to tour around Japan as a singer! If you’re lucky enough, you can get her to sing a bit for you. Her husband is an incredibly talented chef and cooked us a huge and wonderful dinner - probably the best food I’ve had in Japan. Strong recommend!

The most beautiful and touching experience of Japanese hospitality. At Gao’s, Yoneda and Soku’s warm welcome made us feel like we stayed with a family. Little Gao-chan was an angel, and we couldn’t get enough of him ❤️ Our room was a big 2-floor room with an AC. We were warm and slept well. The futons can be a bit unusual after western beds, but our backs were really happy with the experience and we rested really well. The guest house and the district are very quiet and allow for good rest. The accommodation is in an excellent location if you want to visit places in Kanazawa. You can reach most places by foot easily, and during rainy days you can use bus connections, as the area is well connected. In the end of our stay, our kind hosts gave us handmade gifts, which was incredibly touching.

From check-in to check-out me and my friend felt like we were at home. The historical building being a old kimono store makes it all more magical and the effort that the staff puts in making all guests feel at home and facilitating spending time together makes it a truly international hospitality experience. The common areas, room and common bathrooms were always kept extremely clean and with all the necessary amenities. Masaki and Nina were so kind to teach us about origami, our names in kanji and overall connect us more to the amazing Japanese culture and values which they truly live by. I would absolutely recommend it, especially for solo travellers wanting to connect and socialize in a homey and welcoming environment.
