We did the ficus and farm visit excursions and absolutely loved both of them, as did our 10 year old son. The location, room size and staff were all excellent too.

Makanda delivers everything that you might expect and possibly a little bit more. It's pure luxury and the service is sublime. The swimming pool is fantastic and we loved private the beach area. Everybody has a personal concierge that is ready to help at anytime (we had Alex, he was great). The pools are genuis and the view from there is perfect. You can see some iguanas or monkeys right as you are taking a dip and sipping on a margarita. Last but not least, visiting the Macaw reserve on the proptety it’s a must. To be honest, I found the hike and the reserve itself more authentic, not to mention more private, than famous Manuel Antonio National Park. The sunsets from the viewpoint are unique. All in all, an amazing experience and hope to come back soon.

Our room was spectacular! We had a view of the sunset every night and went to sleep with the screen door open to peaceful sounds of the forest. We saw lots of wildlife on the property including coatis, agoutis, and many birds including a Crested Guan and a Montezuma Oropendolo in the tree right by our porch! The restaurant was delicious and all of the hotel staff were amazing. They helped us book a ziplining tour and a birdwatching tour with a private guide where we saw the famous quetzal. It was pure heaven.
