  “Very quiet and chill part of the island, nice secluded beach spots nearby, and great access to activities such as kayaking and hiking. We didn't ride horses-the main activity on offer here, but we could watch the horse corral in the morning while eating breakfast (delicious) with volcano and lake views as well. A comfortable hideaway with lovely flowers, breezes, birds, and butterflies. The room is large and clean with personal veranda and prime hammock spot. Feels far away from it all, but only a short walk into town of Merida.”

  “We had an amazing stay at Hotel La Omaja. Staff is super friendly and helpful, they’ll organize trips, scooters, transport, everything you need. It is a little bit far from the ferry terminal and the bigger towns but that is just a good thing. The food is really delicious so you don’t need to go to other restaurants and it’s extremely peaceful and beautiful out there. Rooms are cozy and clean. AC is working really well and there is hotwater in the showers. The pool area is amazing. One of the most beautiful places that we have ever stayed in. Totally good value for your money. Would go there back any time.”

  “We have been travelling Nicaragua for a month now and came across this place while hitching and walking Ometepe for a week. Wow!!!! We were greated by such a nice family and shown and pristine white painted room facing the sunset on the lake, air con, fans and a nice shower. $10/night, we have stayed for 3 nights instead of continuing on. It's 5 minutes walk from the entrance of the waterfall and is a great base for the island, Sunsets are only seen on this side of the island. After a very affordable meal of fresh fish on the first night we decided to use the fire stove out back and make a chicken and plantain (which we picked up along the walk) broth and offer it to the family here. Such a nice experience. They offered us a free huge breakfast the next morning with juices and coffees, so nice, especially eating on the edge of the lake. You can see they have put a lot of effort recently into there business and are evolving as they learn more of foreign expectations of accommodation. We have seen a lot of travellers on bikes that come across this place for a beer, a meal and a view... They are distressed that they have already committed to the $8/night dorm bunk beds up the road when a great clean room for 2 is only $10/night here... With a portable air on system to boot. I'm a Michelin trained chef with my own accolades in the restaurant and hotel business, while this isn't the Berkeley or the Ritz it's a no brainer for $10/night and I'd happily give the FOH manager a job any time. If your spending time looking for that perfect affordable quiet place with a view and nice food then you should come and have a look here. Ps this is the only review I have written on this trip as I'm notoriously picky. Enjoy your travels.”
