  “This small exclusive hotel, on the slopes of luxuriant greenery of southern Basse Terre was exactly what we expected and wanted. Claire was and excellent host/manager while Laurent was a true culinary artist. The third member of the team, Woody, a native of the island, spoke very good English and was eager to help in every way. Our extended nine day stay came to an end too quickly.”

  “It was private stay. The owner lived upstairs, at the same building. Bit different, it was like a first floor, but at the same time like "0" floor (no wiew from siting area). The bakery and small grocery were 3 minutes away. If you traavel by car, it is good place to stay. We did not speak french, so we cant communicate with the owners, but the main things were OK:”

  “Family of 4 (with 2 boys, 9 and 7 years old), traveling regularly around the world. The directions to the property were well explained by the owner Guy. Now, the property is in the back (and up the hill, seriously up the hill) of the neighborhood, behind some poor houses, then comes the nice rental property. Nice owners, helpful, beautiful property and grounds with ample space for our boys to explore and play. Owners live upstairs so we could ask questions at anytime; they were extremely quiet. The property has an open floor, with open doors (doors are the windows, plus only one true window). It’s kind of nice but mosquitoes among other creatures love to visit as well. The mosquito nets above the beds were a definite plus (no air conditioning), so we left the doors open all night and slept to the sound of tropical nature. Leaving the doors open at night for air flow gave a “camping” feel to it but one night, a local was burning trash in the middle of the night and it was stinky and smoky. It was challenging to eat e.g. dinner while being eaten by mosquitoes. The sofa bed was of poor quality (thin mattress and sunk in the middle) and could actually be replaced with a normal bed (would suggest a bigger size as well since this sofa bed was a small double bed). Linens and pillows were good. Finally, the best and biggest grocery store is in town, about 10 min away and is called Hyper Casino. Just at the lowest roundabout from the grocery store is the boulangerie we liked, called O’Pain. And the restaurant next door of the boulangerie (Rest'O Grill) was also good, with huge portions of food!”
