“We spent 2 nights in Bijagua and it was just awesome! Jonathan was a great host, always happy to show us around and point out all different animals (orphan baby sloth Martina was the sweetest!). The breakfast was one of the best we've had in Costa Rica so we decided to have a dinner in Humming bird caffe too (you can actually see hummingbirds, lots of them!) and it was really REALLY delicious! I was really sad I had to leave.”

“This place is a real gem. Most beautiful gardens and so quiet and peaceful. A great spot to chill.The cabin is lovely and spotlessly clean.Victor And Lisbeth are great hosts, making us feel very welcome in their home. We stayed for 2 days and had all our meals there. Lisbeth is a great cook and really looked after us.Victor gave us a tour of his chocolate plantation which was really interesting. The chocolate tastes fab too!”

“The Lodge is on the slopes of Volcan Tenorio 3km from the main road and the town of Bijagua along a dirt road (you ideally need your own transport). It is very quiet and has fantastic view across the valley and to Lake Nicaragua in the distance. There are some nice gardens including its namesake Heliconia plants where green red eyed tree frog can be found after the rains. The Lodge has a great 1.5 hr loop walk through the forest with some fantastic hanging bridges ($10 per person). Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful.”

“The staff was very sweet and helpful. We went to Bijagua to go see Rio Celeste. They called a cab for us (50 USD for two people, round trip as of January 2016). It was a sweet little secluded spot. It was close to the bus stop, the bank and two eateries. They accept credit card!”

Saw our first sloth.”
