There were 3 other tiny houses around that were long term rentals and everyone there was very friendly. Nice firepit and garden area for relaxing. Plenty of fans to keep cool in the hot temperatures. Carreen was very friendly upon arrival. Great value for the house and amenities. Would definitely come back if in Belmopan again!”

• This complex is set 5 minutes’ drive from Guanacaste National Park and 9 km from Belmopan Capital City. It features horseback tours, a swimming pool, an extensive garden and a computerized telescope.

  “All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the grounds were beautiful. We were able to meet one of the owners, Carolyn Carr, during the delicious family-style breakfast. She welcomed us into her private exhibit full of Mayan artifacts and her own paintings. There is a large pool, a rescued jaguar and several exotic birds on the property. We stayed in a nice room with air conditioning and wi-fi, and the beds were comfortable. In the morning we took the two-hour horseback ride and loved it; the horses were extremely well-trained and the jungle was gorgeous. Overall Banana Bank treated us with amazing hospitality and service and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful Belizean experience unlike any other.”

The Booking.com description is auto-generated and sells the place way short--it's way better than described. We added this stop on our travels for the birds, but had we understood the place better, we would have stayed much longer. What you have here is a large property focused on bird rescue--the main house is where the action happens (the wild parrots fly in every day to feed and it is absolutely amazing to see the birds feed literally inches from you while you relax on the balcony). Your accommodation can be in the main house or in separate standalone houses spread throughout the property. Again, please get in touch with the owners through their websites for more details, there seems to be a lot of options. In addition, there are tons of birds in rehabilitation in the large aviaries--these birds you cannot speak to or play with, as they are undergoing rehab to be released in the wild. Meanwhile, there are a lot of birds that are rescues but will not be able to be released. You can play and pet those birds, they are the best. Laura (poor thing is missing a beak) was our favorite bird, she is very cuddly and friendly. There are also a lot of very friendly dogs on the property, my favorite was Skippy because he's fat but has a tiny head. There is no pool here but what you get is better: a crystal clear river on the property with a waterwheel. You can go for a dip, a swim, or you can even tube around the river as it makes a nice little U turn on the property where you can jump in on one side, float around, and get back out more or less where you started (maybe a 5 mins walk apart). The owners are world travelers. You'll get the best food and also the best stories during meals with them. Amazing value and great people.”

Cabana Rooms were very comfortable with Wifi, air conditioning and a fan. Staff in the restaurant and house keeping were fantastic. We rushed out to the nearby zoo, leaving clothes all over the spare bed, but when we came back all of the clothes were expertly folded.”

Jason was very helpful for planning our excursions and he truly loves having guests stay at his beautiful property. He even created a unique Escape room for us to try! So much fun.
