The lady in the Tourist Office was very helpful.

The lady in the Tourist Office was very helpful. Buses, trams and local trains were all free on that Saturday. Sunday all the shops were open with sales tables and racks in the pedestrianised streets.

Tours is a bustling and unspoilt French provincial city. There are many historic and beautiful buildings. churches the chateau and the Musee des Beaux Arts. Streets have many fascinating visitas. It is also a cosmopolitan city with communities from around the world adding to its fascination. Today there was an amazing market which filled many of the streets in the centre of the city selling all sorts of new and vintage items, as well as a range of foods.

    Tours is a great city.

Tours is a great city. Excellent information Bureau near the railway station. Limited shops and restaurants near the stations, but major chains along Rue Nationale which leads to the two historic areas of Tours: the Cathedral Precinct and the Historical Old City Precinct. Fabulous old 12th Century buildlings, squares, cobbled streets, bars and restaurants - fabulous ambiance and well worth a visit. One of the highlights of my visit. Undertook a half day excursion on the second day to two chateaux (Villandry and Azay-le-Rideau) in the Loire Valley - another highlight with an excellent guide.

Tours is too big for us (prefer smaller towns such as Boise and Amboise. The old town is vibrant with lots of pubs and variety of restaurants. Didn't see too much of the rest of the town given its size

Tours is one of the most staggeringly beautiful cities I've been to. I called in about 7 years ago on my way back from Biarritz and determined that I should visit properly one day. So this was my chance! I was only there for one night but I'd given myself a good 24 hours to have a look around and it took me about an hour to decide that I want to move there permanently. The 'old town' is like something out of a story book with half-timbered buildings and carved decorations everywhere you look. The street level is mainly shops, bars and cafes but you probably won't notice them as you'll be looking up all the time! I stumbled across the 'Canadian Cafe' bar as I was heading back to my hotel but, as I was using a wheelchair, I couldn't get inside. The street outside was full of very interesting people and I ended up talking to some of them who got beers for me. One of the guys was playing in a band who were gigging there that night so the staff and the boss(?) helped to get my wheelchair inside and got me a drink. Brilliant place! Sludge Metal music might not be everybody's cup of tea maybe but I had a great time. As for food, there's everything from traditional French cuisine to the dozen or so Japanese restaurants, Thai, Italian, Tapas bars and lots of generic fast food such as kebabs and burgers. The old town is actually much smaller than I thought. It's easy to get around and it's mostly pedestrianised. It's a beautiful city with great people and a cool, artistic vibe and I'll be back there soon!

A good public transportation system, numerous restaurants of various ethnicities, a very helpful Office de Tourisme, among other things, make Tours is a great base for visiting the dozens of châteaux nearby. When not visiting châteaux, it is also a pleasant city for pedestrian tourist and more laid back than Paris.

The room was perfect for us as it was spacious to also accommodate our pet, clean and cool. It was quiet and comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast area. We didn’t have time to use the hamman and indoor pool, as just stayed for one night, but would definitely go back. Very well located with parking facilities in a central area good for restaurants and bars, shopping, easy access to transport and close to the motorway.

The room is very clean and comfortable. Most surprisingly, it has a 90 degree balcony (so I think my room is probably the best of the hotel? XD). There is also a bathtub, it's perfect after a whole day tiring visit. The breakfast is wonderful. It worths to pay a little bit more for it. 12-15mins walk from the train station.
